Re: New Orania War Scenario game on Mosehansen
Hey, strangely enough, I'm in BigGame as Abysia. I'm the guy whose borders you just brushed up against.
And yeah, the one downside about R'lyeh is that they can only produce their best units underwater. It overextends them something fierce. In a map like Zen's Europe, it's cool. And it tones down a bit once you get Gateway, but otherwise it can be a bit rough.

The reason people resent the hell out of R'lyeh? Two things -- underwater race and paralyze. The illithid are gross with paralyze (although not nearly as much as they once were, thanks to the bug fix) and the fact that they get time to sit around and build underwater doesn't help the love. Top that off with their natural ability to sit around and clam hoard (which I don't see as a problem -- but DON'T be hijacking my thread on that score) and, well, you've got a hated race.
Now, granted, they don't have a few things that -really- chafe like a default death domain, miasma, or heat/cold envirospread. But they're plenty obnoxious all the same.
I just play them because I'm a huge Lovecraft fan. Well, that and I appreciate a little turtling at the beginning of a game (my recent activity in TenToTango notwithstanding...)

Ah, the Mind BLast.
Have you tested Star Children since 2.11? They are less effective since the patch. Not debilitated, but less effective... Joe Commander can get them because the Paralyze isn't *permanent*.
Otherwise, I haven't found that the change... errr, correction has really effected them that much. Battles tend to be over before it really matters.

That was me, who attacked you early. Frankly, I didn't see where I had a choice - bad enough that R'lyeh's capitol was only one province away from my own, but when you took the land province next to my capitol instead of staying in the water....

Re: New Orania War Scenario game on Mosehansen
Greetings to all players of this game.
I am in as Pythium.
BTW IMHO magic 60 maybe a little too much for MP - such settings mean for example that about 50% of all mountains contain 4 magic sites each.
Well, at least we don't have Ermor, not yet anyway. I am so tired of anti-undead global crusades on orania map.

C'mon Cainehill... I can tell you that you are an experienced player.... you should know that R'lyeh is much better on land than on the sea... if you don't believe/get that, try it for yourself.
Oh, and the Void Lord is the #1Best SC there is. Nobody compares... it's actually kinda funny to see them try.

Erm, better? When they're unable to build forts that bring forth their best units? I didn't realize that hybrids were so fantastic...
I mean, I'm sure that you're tired of getting pounded on by tritons, but there's -no- doubt that they're much better in the water where they get their crab hybrids and illithids, as well as the full extent of their water spells.
Maybe I'm wrong. I can admit that. But why do you feel so strongly about something that seems pretty much in contrast to my own experience? ;-)

Re: New Orania War Scenario game on Mosehansen
I'll send a post out here once we start. At this rate, it should be by sometime tomorrow.
Somebody should let poor Cohenn know he's got a game he can join.

how many players are you aiming for miguel? I prefer a bit of space, but maybe you'ld rather have the full complement?

Maybe I'm wrong. I can admit that. But why do you feel so strongly about something that seems pretty much in contrast to my own experience? ;-) Mainly it is because of Tritons, which the R'lyeh have no easy answer to... but basically, it works like this: 99% of land provinces have land based units (suprise!). That is great for R'lyeh, since the slower the oponent is, the more likely he is to be paralyzed by the time your land units face him...
Cavalry can be slightly tough, but not really a big deal.
Try Triton Shark Knights. Who wins? All of a sudden, those indie provinces with knights seem like complete "cake"... and they are.
