Re: Suricate - pbem LA newbie game - (OPEN)
The worry is that those nations are too strong, rather than too weak, in a newbie game. They are relatively hard to counter.
I don't have strong feelings on it myself though, it is up to fabio.

Re: Suricate - pbem LA newbie game - (OPEN)
Hello llamabeast! it's good to hear you posting here ^_^
Of course both you and ich are right, however is my hope that players taking r'lyeh and ermor are not extremely skilled with them to have such a clear advantage , and if they're there is also the diplomacy effect that will have them (hopefully) cornered with all the other nations banding to eliminate the biggest threat =)
So for this game atleast i'll leave those nations playable.
As for the timer i really hope this will be a quick game, of course if it will start taking too long to make turns the timer may be increased .. when ? not sure i hope we'll be able to play all games on a 24h schedule
It occurred to me most likely the game will be still running in cristmas time.. i guess we'll have a suspension of several days for it it can be setted llamabeast right ?

Re: Suricate - pbem LA newbie game - (OPEN)
Lack of skilled players helps LA Ermor, rather than hurting them, as all they need to do in a newbie game is keep pushing their dominion and gathering their freespawn into huge blocks.
Countering undead can be quite hard, particularly if you are new.
I would say R'lyeh is more powerful, but its also more magic-oriented and not quite as easy to play with.

Nah ermor aint that bad. There are lots of things just desined to kill undead (for example purgatory). Altough it has the advantage of scambling hordes. Still I am more concerned about Rlyeh (I've had traumatic experiences when playing sp). Never played it myself. But if Rlyeh is being played by someone not experienced with it im sure it will be ok. From the two, I prefer Ermor (probably cause it probably is easyer to play with).

Re: Suricate - pbem LA newbie game - (OPEN)
Since it is a newbie game, may as well let there be the two nations stated if not at least so that the new players will get to experience WHY they are overpowered rather than just be told they are overpowered.
I wish I could join too for the abovementioned reasons but I can't commit to a new game till after mid dec when i come back from a trip
Good luck on the game though!

I have to know though, how can we get Rl'yeh to, you know, not win this? Without Atlantis, there really isn't anyone else that can even get into the water save for Ermor and C'tis and they still take penalties.

One little request about this game: Instead of a 24 hour/quickhost, how about 26 hours/quickhost? 24/quickhost results in the hosting time ratcheting earlier and earlier--and I'm in the Pacific time zone.
