No, I haven't.
But now that you mention it...

At the bottom of all Posts is a line of text, a part of which says "IP: Logged". If you position your mouse over this, you will get a line on the status bar, the end of which is the reply number (so reply number 200 is actually post number 201 in the thread). My browser is IE5, this may be different on other browsers.

Re: Searching a topic-reply number
In my experience, the link from the search results page rarely takes me to the correct reply, especially in multi-page threads. I usually have to try going through each page to find what I'm looking for. It's almost as if the search engine counts replies in the opposite order that the thread display code does.

Not sure what you mean. Are you suggesting that it counts downward on a new page rather than upward?
Has anyone tried the IP Logged number extensively? It doesn't seem to work for me.
I am using XP with IE6.

I am using XP with Mozilla 1.3 and it works fine. Are you looking in the right spot? It won't be a little pop up box thing like you get when you hover over like the my profile link or like you would get when you hover over a image with an Alt tag. It is in the status bar on the bottom of your browser. Roll over any link and it will show you where the link takes you, same should be for the IP Logged text.

Re: Searching a topic-reply number
I mean that when I click on a link in the search results page, the word(s) I searched for are usually not found in the reply which is brought up; I have to search several pages to find the term. My (untested) guess is that the search function counts replies from the front (latest) post, while the forum display (shown with the "IP Logged" text) counts from the first post (earliest). BTW, I can't get the search to display any results when searching the SEIV forum with IE6; Mozilla works fine, though. Not sure what setting would control that.
