you will have better chance with dominions II I suppose.
.. the beauty is in the eye(s) of the beholder. (especially when they cast death ray, petrification, and polymorph other).

Re: Old Dominions I. reviews....!
I think that being part of Shrapnel that the PR mission would include a search&destroy of those old reviews by sending them Dom2 to review.

edit : time for a new poll

Both CG Online and CGW have offline Versions as well, and the dominions reviews appeared in the paper Versions as well. I think both these publications were printed in excess of 200 000 copies.

I stand confused then, if the figures some of you (IW or Shrapnel, dont quite remember) gave are roughly exact (one thousand copies sold, more or less), I dont really understand how so few players (amongst ~ 200.000) were interested in playing the first opus. Perhaps the reviews emphasized on the graphical aspect or the interface, and not on the deep gameplay.
Whats more there is still a bunch of grognards still buying games, so? do they read main stream mags like CG ?
Hope doms II will perform far far better (you too I suppose).

The Online Version of the CG Online review is available from a link available at the illwinter site, it is a fair review, stresses that the game has not so good graphics but deep and detailed gameplay.
The sales of dominions rose noticeably when the reviews appeared, especially the first one in CGW. But the relative lack of sales even after the game got good grades by independent reviewers in big offline magazines has made me somewhat skeptical to claims that advertising would have significantly boosted sales figures, especially considering the cost of an add in one of those magazines, or one of comparable size. The 'problem' seems to lie elswhere.

Maybe merging two methods would help. An ad showing what the game is like, and giving the link for them to download a free demo.

Re: Old Dominions I. reviews....!
Hi,
Well, I wouldn't waste my time sending these twits a copy of D2. If they can't be bothered to figure out that it's TBS instead of CRPG. I've been writing reviews for over 20 years and I'd be ashamed to put my name on any of those.
That's not to say I would have given D1 rave reviews, but whatever the genre of a game, if one is to give it a fair review one must at least attempt to understand it. These people made no such attempt.
Ciao,
V'ger gone

Re: Old Dominions I. reviews....!
Yeah, not being able to tell a TBS from RPG is simply pathetic...

Re: Old Dominions I. reviews....!
the guy which made the mistake was from a prety obscure Online mag. The reviews big sites were more 'educated'.

Well they dont deserve a free copy I agree. But my thought was to try and get rid of the bad reviews before people started searching for it.
The cost of one copy when compared to the loss of a few buyers.
