Re: OMG!
Well, I just googled, and that seemed like the "official" site. Looks fine in Firefox 0.9.1...
Try anything else google brings up for "Steel Panthers"

Re: OMG!
The frames issue seems to be realted to the window width. I am using IE 6, and it does not keep me from viewing or using the site, it just keeps things from lining up quite right, unless the window is just the right width.
(sorry for pulling off-thread-topic there, it's no real concern)

Re: OMG!
Somewhat back on topic, can anyone recommend a video card that might be able to run this game (or, more specifically, X2: The Threat) for less that $200 or so? I'm expecting Last generation at most recent...

Anything better than a GF 4 Ti. The official specs say GF3, but you'd be good to go with a late model GF4 (make sure though its a Ti), or a midrange GF5. Or you could go the ATI route, I think the 9xxx models should handle the game well, the midrange models start around 9500 I think.
Just make sure your mobo can handle the newer card (check to see what Version of AGP port you have, 8x, 4x, or whatever)

Re: OMG!
I got a GeForce FX 5900 for 199$ (plus taxes, ended up around 215$), it should more than be able to handle Doom3, upper-mid range.
I previously had a GeForce FX 5400, I think I got it for around 120$, and it was also pretty good. Only reason I upgraded is because UPS severely damaged the old computer in shipping. Should be able to pick one up for around 99$ now.

Re: OMG!
My GeForce 4 Ti 4200 is already considered not good enough?
SIGH...
I'm so sick of ever-increasing computer graphics nonsense. Bah! Well, more reason to stick with good games rather than pretty ones.

Re: OMG!
Actually a GF4 Ti would probably be fine. A Geforce 4 *MX* on the other hand, would not.

"As of this afternoon we were playing DOOM 3 on a 1.5GHz Pentium 4 box with a GeForce 4 MX440 video card and having a surprisingly good gaming experience. Even a subtle jump to an AMD 2500+ with a GeForce 3 video card that is two years old will deliver a solid gaming experience that will let you enjoy the game the way id Software designed it to be."
EDIT: and right now if you want a graphics card new for $200 or so, the ATI 9800 Pro is the way to go.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...142-009&depa=1
Note: the Pro, NOT the SE, NOT, the standard. Video card naming conventions are begining to piss me off, but in this case the Pro gives you a lot more performance for the price than most cards.

Re: OMG!
Thanks for all the pointers and links.
My mobo may be a little underpowered; it has a 1.33 GHz Athlon Thunderbird CPU and it's a pre-DDR board. The max AGP it can support is 4x (it's an Abit KT7A).
It looks like the Gainward would be the best board for me - I prefer NVidia's chipset (and drivers!) and the price is good. Now I wonder if my mainboard (with its slower RAM) will be the main chokepoint in my system...
