Nah, build ringworlds. They're prettier.
Ringworlds are prettier, yes, but Sphereworlds are better. More expensive, but better. 200% resource value as opposed to 150% should get you thinking in the first place, and the increased amount of facility slots (don't know exactly, but IIRC it might even be 100(!)) and cargo space (again, don't know exactly, but it's a whole lot more) should probably win you over on the side of sphereworlds.

Ringworlds have 100 facility slots; sphereworlds have 200.

Yes, but Mollies are prettier. Truth is, if you've got the resources spare to be building RWs and SWs, chances are you're already dominating the map completely and are only still playing for sh:ts and giggles. It's very unlikely you actually need all those resources. I mean consider the massive amount of resources that go into building one of these things - how long does it take to actually fill those two hundred facility slots and get your investment back? If you'd spent all that time and money building warships instead, you could have just blown the enemy away and won the game.

What you could do is seal yourself off in your own quiet little secluded sector of space, preferably one system with lots and lots of resources (say, a former asteroid belt), take your time (decades, centuries) building a Sphereworld, filling it up with resource extractors (or, if the mod permits, homeworld legacy infrastructure ), wait until you have your investment back and more, start building a grand total of 20k warships with top-of-the-tech-tree weapons, maximum experience (training) and carefully fine-tuned strategies (simulator) and then strike..... mwuahuahuahuahua.....

Only problem is that you'll only be able to pull this off against AIs, as humans will not wait until you've built up your massive unstoppable warfleet before declaring the game over and themselves the winner. But it can still be fun taking down an empire controlling every star system but one
