It's kinda cool they let it sit for the Last few months, then just spring it on us like this. I'm looking forward to trying it out, but I can't help shake the feeling it's not the Doom we grew up with. I mean, what other game allowed you to mow down hordes of bad guys with a chainsaw?
Now it's a bit more mano-a-mano, and even multiplayer is only 4 players. Of course, it's probably worth getting for the singleplayer game and incredible graphics engine alone.
In related news, I got to play a few hours of Half-Life 2 about two weeks ago, and let me tell ya, it was AWESOME! Very immersive, and I spent a lot of time just playing with the physics (i.e., picking things up, throwing them, bumping them, etc.). The world is very alive, and all the other characters are doing something or another. Very cool. But of course, I may be biased since I haven't played Doom 3 yet.
