Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hello All,
I am a 41 year old systems administrator from Canada who, in his spare time, likes to play strategy games.
I stumbled accross Dominions 3 by accident, played a bit of the demo and am now hooked.
I have just placed my order and am paitently awaiting the arrival of the full blown game.
In the meantime, I will devout my time to scouring the forums for srategy and tactic tips.
It is my hope not to ask too many dumb questions

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome.
The easiest places to start are the FAQ, followed by the Strategy Index. The bug shortlist can be also fairly enlightening in some respects. After that, take a look through the forum. And when you get the game, the manual should keep you busy for a while.

Welcome.
Out of curiosity, what kind of accident brought you here?

I followed a linked thread from another game company's forum regarding Shrapnel's alpha test for their new Pacific War game. I nosed around and found Dominion 3 and the rest is, as they say, history
I had been thinking about picking up Civ IV (having only played the originial release), but this caught my attention in a big way. I prefer supporting independent developers/game companies, especially those who support their products and go the extra mile for their customers.

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
With Illwinter, it's a lot farther than an extra mile...
I think somebody's words when patch 3.10 came out and they got a look at all the stuff in it were: "It's official: This is not a patch, this is an expansion!"
Note that I am NOT a member of Illwinter Games despite my role in the forum.

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
I think it's about time to introduce myself, so:
I'm a 32 year old swiss lawyer working for the government. I play games ever since my father bought a C64 when I was 13. When I read about Dominions 3 in metacritic and saw the screenshots, I knew this could be a game for me and I was not disappointed. Alas for me, I'm too lazy to learn and test the higher arts of Dominions strategies in sp so I was never even close of winning a mp game. I like it the hard way.

32 year old male American pig-dog. :O
Just kidding, I am actually here to run simulations for the revolution. >.>
My father got a Vic-20 when I was 10, and though I was entranced with the pixel before that, now it is near symbiosis.
I am a philosopher, horticulturalist, singer, writer, and gaming enthusiast.
And yes, I must say..... I like the bells and whistles of a large studio title, but Illwinter have earned my full attention. Now if only I could arrange that collaborative project between IW and CA, for a Dominions game with Total War style tactical battles, I will probably die of joy. <3

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
I was going to do this anyway (since I've downed a few), but after two Commodore posts, it seemed serendipitous:
I'm 30 years old. Self-employed (e-Retail). Only extroverted enough to post when drinking (cheers).
I learned strategy gaming and role-playing on the VIC-20 and C-64... I still emulate a game of Phantasie every now and then. Of course, I learned BASIC on the same systems and have always wanted to program games.
Alas, since I've found Dominions about 4 years ago, my aspirations for programming games have taken an even further back-seat to gaming and occasionally automating (in C++) aspects of our business.
ALL HAIL K.O. AND J.K.!!!!!

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Thanks, Kristoffer!
The degree to which you and your programming counterpart interact with your fans/fellow-gamers is amazing. I know it's been said many times in these forums, but this really can increase the value of Dominions 3. It brings something completely unique to an already awe-inspiring fantasy strategy game.
And great job on the new content and bug-fixes in the patches. I had gone about nine months without playing Dominions, came back to find all the new stuff last fall, and haven't gone a week without playing since then. (And that's all single-player.)
-----------------------
On a different note, I wanted to join the chorus of those thanking Edi for his hard work on the bug list, the database and these forums. THANK YOU!
I'll try to keep future posts from sounding so much like they're coming from a fanboy... but I just might be one.
