It is also obvious that one wouldn't fumble unless there were special circumstances. But of course, you missed that.
quote: Please reread my Last post. That was covered in it in no uncertain terms.
|
I've noticed that whenever you are on the losing end of a debate, you say refer to a previous post. OK, I accept your concession.
Quote:
And maybe you can tell me what the price of tea in Beijing in 1602 has to do with this discussion?
quote: Please reread my Last post. It is explained in there.
|
Again! Another evasion and avoidance of the issue. Two for three.
Quote:
And finally you did not answer my question, "What percentage of PC Users do you think are consistently (as opposed to "occasionally") using a DOS floppy to boot their newer computer?"
quote: Your question is irrelevant, especially given the contents of my Last post. You are thinking I was arguing that floppies are widely used for normal booting procedures, which I most certainly was not. I was merely explaining why Windows does not eject floppies upon shutting down. I was clear in my Posts about this.
|
So, now you know what I am thinking about. Really. And what is the source of this arcane knowledge? Are you claiming to be psychic?
What you did say was and I quote your words:
Quote:
Ever heard of DOS? Every Version of windows except for XP has maintained DOS compatibility, and in DOS, you often do not want to eject the floppy upon shutting down, as you will then have to stick it back in when you boot up again (boot disks and all).
|
So, it was you who used the words “and in DOS, you often do not want to eject the floppy upon shutting down, as you will then have to stick it back in when you boot up again (boot disks and all).
I just wanted to know what your conception of "often" was. Your words I may add, not mine.
Did you say not say these words or are you going to avoid the issue like all the others and say read your other Posts?
For that will make it three out of three.

Re: SE4 in higher resolutions + OT: floppy disks
My God Narf, that's it! That's the man, Jeff Minter... Creator of about the most addictive, psychedelic game EVER- LLamatron 2112. The only game that could make not only both your hands bleed but your eyes as well. I loved that game, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a pc Version available for download. I guess I could get me an amiga emulator but I'm way too lazy for that.
Anyway, check out the llinks page on that site narf just posted, it's very funny...
EDIT: Found it! http://www.classicgaming.com/rotw/llamatron.shtml
Remember, play it with the stereo turned up and the lights turned out, in dual joystick mode if possible. For best effect your face should be no more than 8 inches from your monitor. Not recommended for anyone prone to stroboscopic fits/ seizures.

Re: SE4 in higher resolutions + OT: floppy disks
Yep! Llamatron is great! There _is_ a Windohs Version, but it's not really as good as the Atari ST or Amiga Versions.
