Re: The New Fangled Avatar Factory & Bar
Ahh, but that part we figured out.....we were having a debate of which kind of kitty, lol. I know it's not the fluffy type that is in our house...although their claws sometimes feel like it...and we were uncertain as a couple different ones seem possible. Maybe we should just go with kitty...meow.

Re: The New Fangled Avatar Factory & Bar
Woo?
I'm going to have to say that's a tiger. No other large cat has striping like that. The odd coloration has only 2 explanations - either it's really a Liger that is exceptionally gothic, or someone had some fun retouching the image.
I would call it "Black Tiger", if you were fishing for a title for the avatar database.

Re: The New Fangled Avatar Factory & Bar
It's a black panther-as in that particular mutation-looks like an American bobcat.
They're the only ones I know of with those long faces and small ears, and that long of fur. Hard to tell from just the face, though.

Re: The New Fangled Avatar Factory & Bar
The eyes seem slightly too close together to me, and the nose seems slightly too small, to be a tiger.
And American bobcats do have stripes on their faces.

Re: The New Fangled Avatar Factory & Bar
Well perhaps. On the other hand, Bobcats have proportionately much larger ears - so we're at an impasse.
But you may be on the right track with the panther idea. Oddly enough, this image bears a striking resemblance to this-

-but heavily photoshopped. But scrutinizing this very closely (after a couple of hard ciders), I am compelled to think this is the actual picture that was the base for the image that avatar was based on. Whew, what a mouthful! And a mindful. That word is so awesome as a noun. <3

Forget it guys.
Mindi and I already hashed this out and my argument prevailed.
It is a kitty.
