Re: SE:IV Platinum Edition (voting topic)
Gryphn, I'm not sure I understand, are you Derek too? I assumed that everyone would be voting from just one of their aliases.
Edit: Oh, and I'll give the intermediate tally tomorrow afternoon, and maybe make the final tally after this long weekend (Canadians only )

Re: SE:IV Platinum Edition (voting topic)
Alright, the pre-weekend tally [drum-roll] ... [/drum-roll]
There were a total of 162 votes as of Friday, 11:59 pm (my clock on the wall time). Hmmm, that's not divisible by 5, because Crazy Dog & Atrocities are still entitled to 2 more and 1 more vote respectively. Send 'em in, and I'll tack 'em on
The Modding community is strong with this bulletin board, nearly 30% of all votes were cast in the Modding Category.
The 5 strongest topics, as determined by raw # of votes are as follows...
#12, with 23 votes - Satelite Positioning
#29, with 16 votes - Mouse Wheel
#7+8, with 13 votes - More Damage Categories + Damage By Family Type
#1, with 12 votes - Intel/Research Generating Components
#22, with 10 votes - er.. I can't remember, back in a second with an edit.. oh yeah, System Randomizer
Furthermore there was a 3 way tie for 6th place, with 8 votes each were items #14, 16, 23 .
Disappointingly #30, Killer Attack Squirrels have faired quite poorly in this poll. They've been quoted as saying "Awww, nuts!" when asked about the poll. One leader in the squirrel community mentioned that they were initially encouraged by signs that rodents would be accepted in the Shrapnel Gaming community, when Suicide Junkie introduced the racial type "Pack Rat" in his acclaimed mod, P&N. "We were encouraged by the apparent recognition of our [minority] presence on the gaming site when it [pack rat] was included in the mod. The lack of votes for more Killer Attack Squirrels can only be seen as a rejection of our type here" he/she is quoted as saying. The Squirrel gaming subculture is expected to burrow their way into another gaming community, perhaps one less biased against rodents.
I'll give you another update on Tuesday.

Re: SE:IV Platinum Edition (voting topic)
Jimbob, and folks,
Um, I only have one "Handle" or variations of it here. I meant to say that it seems most of the people who wanted the "Wheel Mouse" weighted it very heavily. I generalize, but it seems that people who did not vote for Wheel Mouse, spread their votes more. This could be a biased perception.
Looks like my expectations of the distribution of votes for was incorrect. I hope I play better in the Galactice Bash than I predict people.
I appolize for any confusion.

The High Gryphin: Oh, now I understand
Hadrian: As far as I can remember, I don't think we got your input. As creator/compiler of Ulitmate Mod, I'd love to have your vote!

Re: SE:IV Platinum Edition (voting topic)
2 votes for #23: Add more Warp Point types
#13: Introduce anger modifiers for the use of certain components or facilities
#8: Introduce “Damage Only” by family number(s)
#11: Combat Movement bonuses (make into seperate ability from normal movement, please)
One-way warp points would be neat.
New quadrant topologies possible.
Imagine your worst enemy finding (or making!) a one-way warp point to your homeworld and launching their attack fleet. Of course, the attacker can't return home...so he better win or supply could become a problem.
Maybe warp points should be cloakable? That way, some or all can be hidden from view until appropriate sensor tech has been researched, making exploration w/scanners more interesting.
Maybe the various properties of warp points could be turned into abilities so that one could design warp points using components (sector - warp gate, maybe Component Destroyed On Use)?
[ And so you could build your own warp point back to avenge the ashes of the <sob> Homeworld after that dastardly sneak attack. Yes, I was a Stars! player who liked building stargates. AR was cool given time, too. Season to taste. :-) ]

Re: SE:IV Platinum Edition (voting topic)
Yea I know that idea was not in your list. But I think you should add it. You already have 3 votes for it
