Well, I may say that I'm quite lost. Some people take nations that fit well with Tolkien's world, other choose their nation and build a story to insert them in Middle Earth history. I'm afraid that we end up with a game not very different from the classical ones.
So, I'm starting to wonder whether I'll take part in this game or not. I don't blame anyone except me, I should have wait a little before joining this game.

Re: War of the Ring- Full
I think rather than the name its the armies or perhaps the mages that are thematic.
Take TC, I was going to play Man but in CBM they are neutered somewhat. However, someone mentioned that the Calvery of TC resembeled Rohan ALOT. Put that with a weaker Inf that a Horse Heavy nation would have and you have ...Rohan except the all have Fu Man Chu mustaches.
Is Argatha a thematic nation straight from the book? NO...but it can be considered evil and thematic enough for the game in my estimation.
How about ARCO..they just don't fit although they are Human.
I think we must think outside the box.
If you think about it Ghosts helped the good side to fullfill there vow.
Treelords attacked on the side of good when it was discovered that thier brethern had been cut down.
It doesn't just come down to Orc's, Goblins, Elves (who by the way only sent two companies of Archers in the whole book till the very end) and Humans.
Its a war of Good agianst Evil and we can only get as thematic as the game will allow.
IMHO only, of course

Re: War of the Ring- Full
What I was really aiming for was a noob/semi-noob 2 team game with each team "anchored" or "captained" by a vet. The whole war of the ring idea was kind of a thematic justification for that. If you want to drop out you can, but I think this has the potential to be a lot of fun. Don't worry too much over whether something is thematic, just pick what nation and team you want and go from there.

Re: War of the Ring- Full
I've PMed Ossa and quio, so hopefully we can get the teams sorted out and they can then work out strategy. I'm thinking we wait a day or two for the teams to plan strategy and make pretenders. I also need to let Clevelend know so he can set the map up.

That's right. No vast human armies of warriors took part in the battles in any of the LotR movies. And there were certainly no creatures resembling elephants. Really got to stretch the imagination here. /sarcasm
Just for you, I'll pick Arcoscephale.
