Re: All I want for Christmas is a "Promotion"..
I always thought that Navy ranks would be much more appropriate for Space 4X games. Horatio Hornblower far from his superiors, having to make decisions on his own, etc...
But, to be fair, when/if we ever start sending ships into deep space with humans on them, it'll probably be the Air Force that does it...and they use a modified Army naming system for ranks.
But "Admiral" still sounds better to me than "General"

Re: All I want for Christmas is a "Promotion"..
I wouldn't mind a promotion, but I just got one not too long ago. I'll have to find that list in this thread and see how much longer I have till my next one.
Edit: Hmmm, only 400+ to go...

Obviously, I should have read this thread before Christmas.
Got a little ways to go...

lucky bastard! Putting stuff together is fun!! Fun!? Right....
Well, I was wrong. I didn't spend half the night. I spent most of the night. Most of it was just wrapping presents. The couple of things I had to assemble weren't as bad as I thought they'd be. I didn't go to bed until 4:00 am, and the little guy woke up around 7:15. We bought him a keyboard for kids his age (he's 3), and he almost didn't want to open anything else. But he finally got into opening presents.
