Seduction random event?
I got this message in a game:
"Geiserik managed to resist a magically alluring song that was heard from the water"
Looks like a seduction attempt to me, probably from a Siren. Does that sound right? But, this game (LA) only has Pan, Ermor, and Ulm (me) left.
There's a battle icon for the battle after the seduction attempt, but clicking on it doesn't do anything (this looks like a bug). I've got a Geiserik in a coastal province, but no Geiserik in the ocean. 2 Gem events, 1 tax event, no other random events this turn. I could have a dead Geiserik in the ocean, obviously I can't find the dead body.
Is there a random Siren seduction event that does not give a random event message? I can't remember if the regular random assassination event gives a message, or just shows the battle.

Re: Seduction random event?
I don't think that there are random siren events. But there are random events where you can get a siren. She/it can lure commanders in coastal provinces in the water and drown them (I got 3 of them playing as R'lyeh). Probably one of the other nations has got a siren due to this event and is now using it against you. That's my explanation to that. No idea what happend to the fight though. Obviously Geisirik resistend and didn't drown...

Lure of the Deep, Thaumaturgy level 7 global enchantment, has a message like that when it causes mischief unless memory fails - certainly it would be a less convoluted explanation

Nah, thats not what the lure of the deep message looks like. It says "X number of units felt the lure of the deep and were lured to their deaths this turn" or something close to that. I just saw it in my last game. Never mentions individual units.

Re: Seduction random event?
One of the new events in 3.10 gives a Siren/Syren/whatever commander. In my test games, it happened quite often; IIRC, all of the coastal test provinces got at least one ín 100 turns - the scales were rather extreme, however.

Re: Seduction random event?
I have this vague recollection that if a commander resists the song nothing happens. If he fails to resist and can't breathe water he drowns; only if he doesn't resist *and* is amphibious does he fight against an assassination attempt.

Re: Seduction random event?
Thanks everyone!
So, it was a lowly H1 priest who resisted the attempt by a Siren from a random event, and there was no battle because he's not amphibious. Explains it all!
I've got the following scales in the same game, with many coastal provinces and have never gotten a Siren: Turmoil3,Growth1,Luck3,Drain2.
So, if anyone's keeping track of this sort of stuff, looks like you need at least better than Drain2 to get Sirens as random events.

Re: Seduction random event?
Perhaps, VFB, it was one of your sneaky opponents, and not a random event at all??? Ermor?? Or Pan, maybe???

Re: Seduction random event?
Yeah, I figured that out . I garbled my English though ... what I meant is that an enemy nation attempted to seduce my commander with a Siren. That enemy nation (hello Pan) got the Siren from a random event.
