Infantry Icon mods?
Could anyone perhaps Modify the West German and Bundeswehr Infantry icons so that they look a little more realistic? I would be most grateful if someone would do this.

Re: Something else as well
How might someone go about adding WWII German Units etc to WINMBT and how do you edit which weapons make which specific sound?

Re: Something else as well
WinMBT is for Post WWII, however I do belive there will be a WWII version of the game, just don't quote me on that.
The Infantry Icons are hard coded into the game, So Only the Game designers can change them. We where talking about altering some of the heavy weapon's, and we even did some new heavy weapons, on the yahoo group with hope that they would be hard coded in, however nothing came of that.

You can't even edit the SHP's?

Re: Something else as well
I wish I could do some sound editing, but most all the sounds seem to be hardcoded ...some weapons seem to use more than one sound too.
What do you mean the infrantry icons are hard coded????

Re: Something else as well
Infanttry icon numbers are hard coded. That means you cannot change the look of your squad with MOBhack. Same with all infantry units, only crew-served weapons (howitzers, mortars, flak, mrls...) can be modified.
However, if you open the right .shp files with SHPed (icon0010.shp thru icon0015.shp IIRC) you will find the inf squad icons for the various crew numbers. There are several colors following country, but which country uses which colors IS hardcoded and unmoveable. Now if you feel like it and have a precise idea in mind, you can extract these infantry icons, edit the images and replace them in the files.
At least I guess you can. I never tried this but it doesn't sound too buggy, provided you do everything quite right.
Same with the sounds. Not much hardcoding that you can't bypass.
Go in the Data\Sounds folder or something like that, you'll find all the sound files (.mp3) and the .ini list saying what sound is what and (important) what filename refers to what sound reference number used in MOBhack. By cross-referencing both you can change any unit move or weapon sound for any in the database. And add or replace with your own ones
Have fun!

Re: Something else as well
Ok I got what you meant on the infrantry, I was wondering what you meant because I changed all my infrantry shp files already.
I tried changing the sound numbers(what weapon uses what sound) in mobhack, but the sounds that have a zero listed, cannot be changed.
because of the hard coding of certain wepaons to certain sounds.
The INI list I know of only tells you the sound file number..There is no list I am aware of that tells you what weapon uses what sound.

Sure, when there is no sound defined, the firing sound is made up by the game engine from the weapon variables (class, weapon size, wh size)

No there ain't!
No reference file about what sound is what. You'll have to check it all in MOBhack and figure out what is what. If you feel like building a list, I think many people here would like to see it
What I meant is that you should use this file if you want to change the sound files or add some in the list.
Anyway some sounds are hardcoded, but even them the coding refers only to existing .mp3 files... Then if you find these, you can alter the files themselves as you wish, hard coding or not!
