Flickering graphics- HELP?!?!

Purchased and downloaded space HoRSE- Looks reeaall good! Problem though- after the splash screens and in-game, I have a graphics-"flickering" problem. Mouse flickers, and after title screen, the animations flicker as well- like in the screen where player race/name are chosen, everything that is animated flickers. Basically it looks like a problem with the refresh rate, and when rate is increased, it get a wee bit better, but not much.

System as follows:

Win XP
Service pack 1
Intel Pentium 3
797 MHz
256 RAM
Nvidia riva tnt2 model 64; forceware version 71.89.

Unfortunately, this issues seems to happen with some older video cards/drivers, but there doesn't seem to be a way to nail down the specifics.
