Diplomatic Triggers
In my current game I just reahed level 10 in Propulsion, receiving Quantum Engines III. Within two months (turns) every single other species turned against me completely. Races that I had had partnerships with since the beginning of the game over two hundred turns earlier, who had had "Brotherly" dispositions toward me were "Murderous" and at war with me after that. Every race without a single exception and I am playing in a 20 race huge galaxy!!! This is a bit unrealistic if you ask me. I was thinking of softening their reaction through a diplomatic mod, but I am not certain I know how to proceed?
Any thoughts on either their abrupt reaction or how to do the mod?

Re: Diplomatic Triggers
In all seriousness, sounds like you tripped the "Mega-Evil Empire" (MEE) trigger. Look in "Settings.txt"; there's a setting for MEE, (I think it's 170 for default). The setting is used as a percentage; when your score is (for example) 170% (or 1.7 times, or 70% higher than) the second place player's score, MEE kicks in. I think the setting is 250 for AI's, so an AI would have to have 2.5 times the second place player's score to become MEE.
There's been a lot of debate here about it; do a search on MEE or Mega-Evil Empire.
BTW - you can also turn this feature OFF at game setup...

Re: Diplomatic Triggers
The kooky, yes I said kooky, thing of it is that I only have three systems. In a huge galaxy you'd think this hardly qualifies me for the Mega Evil Empire title, sigh. I ddi research all colonization techs so I could absolutely fill up every planet. It is turn 253 and I have 3 systems containing 33 colonized planets and a population of 39.8B. You are right about the score though, my score is currently 868.7 while my nearest competitor, the Narn Regime (great job there) sports 511.1. I think my score received a huge boost when I converted all monoliths to monolith III's and built those 20 baseships... I can understand people banding against me to an extent, but as I am never the aggressor it would be nice if the game took that into consideration. There are BIG nice guys in the universe after all...

Re: Diplomatic Triggers
You guys were right... Mega Evil Empire... sigh. I edited all races anger files and changed the value from the default 50 to 100. Now the quadrants races are easing up on me a bit, which makes the game more interesting. Thanks for the information.

Re: Diplomatic Triggers
I maintain that it is and define it thus:
It is the adjective one applies to eccentric, peripheral or otherwise skewed or screwy people or phenomenon. Mildly pejorative, but often with an element of amusement or affection.

Re: Diplomatic Triggers
Definately a word. kook - An eccentric, zany person according to American Heritage. Kooky - adj.
Those two words describe just about everyone I work with!

Re: Diplomatic Triggers
You sir have become a threat to the stability of the galaxy. In other words, you be super evil empire now. Welcome to the club. I recommend that you now squash your enemies one by one. Glass their worlds, and force their people into slavery. (no insult intended to any one)

Can you alter the AI files and apply them to an ONGOING game?
Don't you hafta start all over?
IF not, I feel really stupid here!
