Re: Multitracking
Sometimes. The EA space stations does. But IMHO it's not that important and therefore the EA doesn't use it very often. Just my personal taste.

Re: Multitracking
Actually, in my "mod"ed Version of the game. I have added this as an inherent ability to space stations on the theory that they will have planned interlocking fire lanes, etc. But your right, ships generally never get an oppurtunity to use this, so I have removed it as well.

Re: Multitracking
*shrug* I like to have at least multiplex tracking 2, just in case one of my ships wastes an enemy ship with one or two of its weapons. I hate wiping out something with one WMG and then not being able to fire the other remaining guns at another target.

associates arrange that for me, Mr. Morden?"

Re: Multitracking
In the unmodified game I am playing right now the AI puts Multiplex Tracking IV on all it's ships. (of course it isn't using ECM III then) I think it's important to have it when fighting against swarms of fighters or little escorts.
If I had one Baseship with 20 weapons but no multiplex tracking it would get slaughtered by 100 fighters because it could only kill one a turn.

Re: Multitracking
Well, thats why you put point defense on your ships. Fighters rarely get past it. And a baseship can definitely hold a lot of PD weapons. I try for at least 8 to 10 on my baseships. Thats overkill maybe, but it means that it can work very effectively completely on its own if needed.
