Re: New 2.11 Patch! +OS X Patching problem
Does any know what the effect of the patch is on ongoing games? (That is, if I upgrade to the patch will it break anything in my saved games?)

Normally it shouldn't break anything , and you'll fully enjoy the new patch in your games ! (except a special case of Dracolich shapechange documented in the readme ... just re-change shape !)
If you're playing MP ALL players must upgrade though.

Re: New 2.11 Patch! +OS X Patching problem
Patch's list of fixes and additions looks great. I think it'll be some time before we figure out just how much impact it has, but the initial outlook seems to be: LOTS.
Thanks IW!

What look like the biggest changes:
* Battle inconsistency problem fixed!!! Yihaaaa!.
* Paralyze is not eternal any longer.
* Non blood mages are worse at finding blood slaves.
* Regeneration items doesn't work for inanimates any longer.
Wasn't that Last one already the case? Or maybe I'm thinking of Dom I... Anyway, paralyze wearing off will make supercombatants a little tougher to counter, but on the other hand, less hunting by non blood mages will make *blood* supercombatants harder to get in the first place (except the Vampire Queen, heh heh.)
And of course everyone celebrates the fixing of the battle replay bug, Utgard bug and some new goodies for two weak themes, Carrion Woods and Blood of Humans.
Nothing about the much-discussed Clam of Pearls - I suppose Illwinter is still waiting for the playing community to reach a consensus on whether or not an agressive strategy can beat down clam hoarders before their investment pays off. I think it might be difficult to do so when the clam hoarder is a water nation, because of the water nations' huge advantages in underwater combat (it's nearly impossible to use conventional armies against them at all, and even undead and construct armies are at a serious disadvantage). Many army bLasting rituals won't even work against underwater provinces (flames from *where*? )

Chris, you forgot another important change. Less obvious perhaps: the altered targeting system.
Less deviation gives:
Less friendly fire.
More accurate and useful evocations.

Re: New 2.11 Patch! +OS X Patching problem
Like many things in this game I think "biggest changes" are personal opinions.. The whole list of changes is great! (before anyone asks you can get both the patch, and read the changes, at http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Illwinter/d2/6.htm )
I think that the...
Press 'f' in battle for fast forward and 'n' to skip on turn.
will be a biggy. We saw alot of people in the newsGroups saying that lack of speed control in battles was enough to make them not play the game at all.
Im guessing that
Deviation for arrows and spells has been altered
refers to aiming.
Personally Im thrilled at seeing
Cheat detection can be disabled.
although I dont see a switch for it.
I find this note important
Several weapons and some stats altered according to Saber Cherry's mod
not because of the changes but because they are willing to acnowledge that a players mod has generated the change.
lots of new mod commands and switches the
--preexec and --renaming
are eagerly awaited by the hosting people

This one is the biggest IMHO, I really awaited it !
Too bad the assassin-retreat bug wasn't fixed though...

Excellent patch IW, thank you!!
Fixing of the reply bug and control over battle replays are two items that I think will generate the most excitment in the community, although many other changes are great as well.
Now if only something could be done with clams issue...
Anyway could somebody post the list of changes in this Saber Cherry's mod? I didn't have a chance to play it, and I would like to know what exactly has been changed in this patch according to mod?
