one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
Since some people have shown an interest....
Here is one of the ways I like to play Dominions.
http://www.Dom3Minions.com/RandomMaps/MegaMap.zip
I will leave the other post out in general area for "wow cool map" posts. And repost here for some discussion on the methods, pros and cons of it.
It has 1495 provinces, 3 large oceans and 3 large land areas. You can play with all the other nations in your era and still have wilderness between you making scouting for them an effort. And there lots of impassable mountains creating chokepoints. It also has various surprises scattered around the map so be sure to SCOUT CAREFULLY before attacking a province.
I also added a short script that shows how I generated the additions that are scattered on the map. The "interesting.yab" isnt needed to play the map but if you have a YaBasic or some other basic then you might use it to generate surprises for other maps also. Or re-generate the surprises on this one if you play it enough to get to know whats there.
Warning: generating the world at the beginning of the game can take awhile

Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
Here are some maximum maps that I have generated (1495 provinces and extra mountains for chokepoints). The all have pros and cons for play. Particularly for playing water nations or playing against them.
Any comments? favorites? want one to develope off of?

Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
Second row, far right, is my favorite. It has a very organic feel to it and looks like it would be perfect for a long MP game with two water nations included.
Nice looking maps.

Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
Abit much water on that one but with maps that large the land pieces are large enough that you dont start right NEXT to water. I can zip it up and give you a link if you want it.
Second row and next to the end (#9) could be wrappable if someone wants to do the work on it.

Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
Actually, if you wouldn't mind I would like that map. With the mountains it looks like it would have some nice choke points as well. I will probably play it with some extreme starting settings too for a very slow pace long duration game.

Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
This map would not work for me. But with a little poking and prodding I was able to make it work.
I loaded the map into paint shop pro, converted it to a tga. Then I had to edit the map file and point it to the correct image. The original image you sent me was named max7.rgb and the MAP file was referring to max07.rgb. This was causing my Game to crash!
In retrospect, I probably could have left it an .rgb and just fixed the MAP file, but oh well it works now anyway
Thank you for taking the time to zip and host the map and image for me, it is greatly appreciated and works like a charm now!
