Default Possible bug in 1.49?

I've built five Atompspheric Converter III's on a giant Hydrogen, at eight turns each. It's been at least ten turns since the Last one was completes, no conVersion yet, still hydrogen. This is in a system with about three other giant planets, cannot recall their original atmospheres, since they all converted on time. This is on a new 1.49 game. Anyone have any ideas? Prior experience? Is it just a fluke?

Perhaps only one per planet is effective?

While it may be the case that only one works (was trying to see if more would speed up the process, no progress), I put five in the queue for each giant planet, with the conVersion taking place while the Last two were under construction. Nothing happening on this planet.

I have used AC in a number of games. They seem to vary depending on your/its atmosphere. Sometimes its quick other times it takes forever.

Well, with five at 8 turns to build each, that's 40 turns... AFAIK, Atomsphere Converter IIIs take 20 turns... so it should have changed with the first one.

Unless, of course, if your atmosphere type is "None", then you can't change a Gas Giant, but could change huge-size rock or ice planets.

Will, you just solved the mystery! I did not know that you could not switch a gas giant to none, first time playing with that atmosphere. Thank you very much!

It would be kind of silly to have a "None Gas Giant"
Your people would just be floating in space

Yah. That is a pain. As a none breather just make sure to get SM tech and blow all the Gas Giants into nothingness and then remake until you get rock or ice. Or alternatly get yourself a nice slave race that breathes something else and set them up on all the Gas Giants. Otherwise you lose some major production potential.

I've been toying with a Star Trek style Genesis device, but I'm missing a couple of important elements, hopefully someone out there could help ?

I'm basing the device on the following attributes..

1) Change Atmosphere in single turn
2) Increase Planetary value
3) Component destroyed on use
4) Planet must be present to use device
5) Make the planet unstable

I was hoping to increase the planetary value to an absolute amount, but I'll settle for an increase, but I'm having trouble with numbers 4 and 5.

Any ideas ?

Sounds cool, but does the "Change Aptmosphere" ability work for components. I thought that only worked for facilities?
