Abysia help please!
I've only been playing a couple of weeks full Version and latest patch.
First time playing Abysia, no special theme or death scales, after about 25 turns the population in my capital starts to die? Its now turn 30 and I've lost about 3,000 no blood search being done either. All my other cities are fine.
One of my leaders did say something about eating the hearts of the dead I think? So I move him out but they still dying!
Any thoughts or have I just missed the obvious!
Thanks

Re: Abysia help please!
Did you have any bad events? Is there any death there at all (foreign dominion influence if you have no growth to push it out)?

Yeah, check if you have a skull showing in your home province. (was a neighbouring province influenced by an enemy dominion?) Anyway send a 20 unit force on patrol for a turn or two... just in case...
Check your tax rate, as pdf said, if it's too high it kills people at an alarming rate sometimes.

Some special summoned commanders cause disease and destruction, and atleast one is stealthy. I do believe that he would be found on your home province with its prov. def. of 25 though.
Also, the mscellanous item Bane Venom Charm has the same effect, so it might just be that item on someone in there causes it. Check your commanders and for Stealth +X commanders.

Summons : an Harvester on turn 25 is very unlikely (at least). And I think he plays vs the AI ..

I missed that. Anyway, I waere pondering the 'ate hearts of the dead' message and Eater of the Dead, but if it causes something like that it wouldn't be too hard to quess it...
Maybe Hully could tell us little more about this?

Re: Abysia help please!
A 10% pop drop isn't that bad really, especially if you are doing heavy blood hunting/patroling and have death scale. It does sound as though you may have had one of the 4% or 5% pop killer misfortune events as well. No biggie really...
I've had my capitol down to under 15k by turn 30 a few times, though most of it wasn't my doing exactly

Re: Abysia help please!
Thanks everyone...But I think its on own goal
I put my tax rate to 200% and patrolled heavily to keep the unrest down, it seemed a good idea at the time.
So yes I discovered the down side, people killed by patrolling unsettled provinces come of the population? Well I think that’s what was happening.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks

Re: Abysia help please!
Heh, hell yah!
If you tax and 200% and patrol to keep unrest down you will lose pop fast. In fact I'm surprised it was only 10% in 25 turns, though you probably didn't have those conditions for the full 25...
A better system to use is to designate a few 5-10k pop provinces as your blood hunting grounds and either patrol or just drop the taxes to zero (or something else low) to curb unrest. Usually wrecking your capitol in the early game is a really bad idea. Over taxing is also a bad long term strategy.
