Gold Demo Counter-Intel
I just went to the intel screen in the .99 Demo and the counter-intel ops are 10 times as much! What gives?

Re: Gold Demo Counter-Intel
Counter-intel seems to be an ongoing thing, meant to be run concurrently with offensive operations.
IOW, you aren't really suddenly establishing a fence when you complete the project. Instead, you are continually devoting that much time and resources (intel points) to counter-intelligence operations, and those operations are in place as soon as you start the project and Last until it is finished.
I know that the few times I've had enemy nations use intelligence ops against me, they were being stopped by my counter-intelligence all the way through the "development" time for the counter-intel project.
I think all they've really done is make it so counter-intelligence programs are being run longer by default.

Re: Gold Demo Counter-Intel
In the .56 demo, my counter-intel projects never stopped an enemy attack until they were finished. This makes sense, otherwise, if they stopped enemy intel ops during their production, I'd just have 4 of each level of counter-intel going at once and split the points between them. That approach would completely secure me from the AI's attacks.
If they work like they used to in the .56 demo (and I can't see why they'd change) then they are now super-high cost and that really needs to be fixed.

Re: Gold Demo Counter-Intel
The answer was already posted. The counter-intel ops work the whole time now, not just when they are complete.
These are not a guarantee that no projects will work. It depends on how many operations are going against you.

Re: Gold Demo Counter-Intel
Hey there, Mark. Did your change of station go okay? Still play EFS?
You'll like this game. Evidently the demo is a little buggy, but the one the beta testers are working with is running like a champ.
Hopefully, we can game together some in this.

EFS? Emperor of Fadding Sun?
A game with a lot of good ideas, but pathetic AI!
I regret the day when I sent the purchase order to chip&bits...

EFS: Pathetic AI?
En contraire. I doubt that you can beat the game on hard setting.

Re: Gold Demo Counter-Intel
Like a lot of games, the AI usually gets beat by a human ( otherwise people would not buy it ). The question is the degree of difficulty in beating it. There are some great patches out for EFS that make it better, but it's best feature is the role playing aspects that you can get into while doing strategic gaming. Still one of the best for that aspect of gaming in my book.

Re: Gold Demo Counter-Intel
Klaus: I can not remember a game, when the AI conquered ONE of my planets.
Also, the other 'Houses' and aliens, never 'colonized' the 'free' planets.
The AI only is good defending a planet (I could say the tactical AI). But the strategical AI... simply not exist.
I have played some more games, after download a work done by some fans, to balance the units (I think that was named NOVA).
At the end, still I believe that EFS it's a game with pathetic AI, and pretty buggy.
I don't want to offend anybody, and of course that these are only my opinions. Finally, sorry for write about EFS here... but I was frustrated because a game with a lot potential (again in my opinion), was wasted.

Re: Gold Demo Counter-Intel
Hey there Comar! Yeah, I survived ok, but my computer took about 6 months to arrive. I'm convinced that instead of going across the Pacific, they moved it across Asia and Europe by yak.
SE4 seems to be ok - I just hope that the actual gold Version is significantly better. Maybe I'll see you at the next warp point - I'll let you know...
