Map Editor and custom planet images
Have the planets image mod 11c installed.
How do I get images into the map editor?
I have also been working on some new planets, and so far it seems to be coming along nicely:
Now I wanna see my art in-game! So how do I get my custom planets into the map editor?
Even better, I'de like the game to use some of the hundreds of planetxxx files when generating a new random universe. Is this possible? Is this what it ordinarily does? HEELLP! 10Q

Re: Map Editor and custom planet images
You have to edit the SectType.txt file and add an entry for every planet image you would like to be useable. FQM Deluxe has many of them used in it already, so it provides a solid base to work from.

Re: Map Editor and custom planet images
You may want brighten up those planet images. Especially for the mini images which will become very hard to see at 36x36.

Re: Map Editor and custom planet images
Hi, thanks! <bwrzzzz> nice ta be here!
Yes, definitely needs brightness; another good reason to look at it in-game.
FQM, Fyron's Quadrant Mod, where can I get this thing?

Re: Map Editor and custom planet images
Nowhere right now, unfortunately. I have attached to this post the data files of the latest released version. I am currently working on a new version of the mod, but do not know when it will be ready. It will balance out the planet types and atmospheres, so make sure to keep any changes at the end of the file for ease of use later...
Note that the mod references system images normally included in FQM that you will not have. You don't necessarily need the SystemTypes.txt or QuadrantTypes.txt data files if all you want is more planet images.
Also, note that FQM adds several new types of planets in PlanetSize.txt, which are referenced in SectType.txt.

Re: Map Editor and custom planet images
So I've been working on a system to emulate the image of earth from the 1972 Apollo-17 mission, using procedural methods. It comes reasonably close, and still works pretty well in game:
SectType.txt entry:
Physical Type := Planet
Picture Num := 302
Description := Inhabited by a pre-warp civilization of ape-like creatures.
Planet Size := Medium
Planet Physical Type := Rock
Planet Atmosphere := Oxygen

Re: Map Editor and custom planet images
Wow... that picture looks nice. Too bad the little tiny picture wont have that much detail. But that's good work.

Re: Map Editor and custom planet images
It does look nice. But perhaps make the clouds fluffier and the ground a little differentiated?
