We've Got Your Six! The 2022 winSPWW2 and winSPMBT Upgrade Patches are In!
Ya Gotta Get 'Em!
Wilmington, NC, 20 April 2022
Another Year of Upgrades, Fixes and Additions have arrived.
First, DO NOT apply the upgrade patches while in the midst of a secure PBEM game as the game will fail.
Available for immediate download, these two patches are loaded, fully loaded. So, let's take a look at what the great guys at Camo Workshop have given us...
The 2022 patch updates any version of winSPMBT version 10 and up to version 16. winSPMBT, upgraded to version 16.0 includes:
- 10 New Scenarios
- 6 Revised/Updated Scenarios
- 3 Revised Campaigns
- 35 New or Revised Map files
- 492 New or Revised OOB Photos
- 231 New or Revised vehicle/aircraft Icons
- 93 Updated OOB Files
- 41 New or Revised Icon files
- 80 New or Revised Text files
- 3 New or Revised Sound files
1. Scenhack
We have added the ID tag ID to fields so it is searchable data using SQL. This feature is more applicable to SPWW2 but can have some use in SPMBT.
2. Both games now use a new modified master game palette that adds a new green to the 256 colour palette in place of a rarely used very dark green. This new grey-green series is a much closer match to many military colours. There are new Palette files for building Icons and Pics in the Game Data\Design\Palettes folder.
3. MOR and EXP and leader ratings have been reviewed and adjusted where it thought necessary. Those that may disagree with those values see "Preferences screen for Troop Quality" above.
4. Norway and Denmark battle locations have been expanded. Norway's location #7 is no longer with no roads. There is more open scenery now, with more of a chance of a road network. Denmark had a hilly location added and also more of a chance of there being roads.
5. The Ukraine vs Russia battle locations have been expanded.
6. Defensive Aids on AFV (CIWS and VIRSS) have been slightly reduced in effectiveness.
7. The Pick lists used by the AI for Ukraine and Russian have been reviewed and adjusted slightly.
8. The Afghan flag changes once again.
The 2022 patch updates any version of winSPWW2 version 9 and up to version 15. winSPWW2, upgraded to version 15.0 has:
- 1 Updated Scenario
- 1 Updated Campaign
- 137 Revised/Updated Scenarios
- 2 New maps
- 203 New or Revised OOB Photos
- 36 Updated OOB files
- 57 New or Updated Graphic SHP files
- 203 New or Revised vehicle/aircraft Icons
- 215 New or Revised Encyclopaedia/Help Text file
- 3 New or Revised sound files
1. Scenhack

2. Both games now use a new modified master game palette that adds a new green to the 256 colour palette in place of a rarely used very dark green. This new grey-green series is a much closer match to many military colours. There are new Palette files for building Icons and Pics in the Game Data\Design\Palettes folder.
3. Wagons were not appearing on the purchase screen and now do.
4. The Indian flag has been changed . It was the flag of the Viceroy of India and is now the more correct Indian Red Ensign.
5. The following new ID and Victory Hex flags have been added to SPWW2.
Extended game version only.
* Entering 75 will give you the flag used by the Slovene Home Guard 1941–1945
* Entering 93 will give you the Flag of Mongolia 1921-1924
* Entering 94 will give you the Flag of New Zealand
* Entering 96 will get you the flag of Imperial Japan
* Entering 121 will give you the flag of The Italian Partisan Brigate Garibaldi
6. The Scenario reviews / ratings done by the highly experienced Playtester, Tom Chartoff, are being added on an ongoing basis to the Scenaio text to allow players to better judge if the sceanrio might interest them.
For both games:
1. It is now possible for Player one to set which side of the map to play on and this extends to PBEM games as well. After selecting the opponents and while purchasing but before deploying click on VIEW MAP button and you will see this if you have the
extended version of the game.
2. Pressing the SWAP button will change sides and V hex placement in all battle types except beach assaults. In the case of beach assaults the map must be redrawn and that means that while most custom maps can be used with the Swap feature CUSTOM BEACH MAPS SHOULD NOT BE USED WITH SWAP. In PBEM the map sides must be agreed upon and set by player 1 as the button for this feature is disabled for player 2.
This feature is activated in the Extended game version only.
3. Preferences screen for Troop Quality
When a player selects "Troop Quality" the morale as well as the EXP rating was set to the same value for example if 60 was applied then the game would produce averages around 60 for both EXP and MOR. Now the question is 2 parts. Each value is set as the player decides and are displayed together in the preferences screen as EXP/MOR e.g 70/67 would be 70 Experience and 67 Morale and unit averages for Experience and Morale are calculated from each number rather than just the one.
4. There is a new Stats tab on the main screen
If you load Scenhack then click on a scenario and then click on the Stats Tab you will see data for each players number of troops, number of units as well as the Average Experience and the Average Morale as well as the total number of troops and units for both sides.
5. The Nation tab in ScenHack now works correctly and has been improved. It is now possible to select both the player AND the nation to change an ID tag and although this is something few will ever use it now allows more control for those that do. If, for example, there were units from an OOB that were being used by both sides this allows you to change ID tags for one side without affecting the other side.
6. There has been a slight increase made to the chance smaller caliber AA type weapons will inflict damage on armoured air units.
7. The Max number of units that can be in a formation has been increased from 60 to 91. There were some larger formations that the game was trimming units from when the formation was bought and this change prevents that.
8. Hits that had been reported as "NON-PENETRATING" are now reported as "GLANCING" to make the event being simulated more clear.
9. Larger caliber HE if fired directly at armour is likely to have better HE pen than previous.
10. The AI has been re-coded to be a bit more cautious in minefields.
11. When purchasing your force the number of men in all the units and formations is now reported as Troop .
12. Scenhack had shown each side as either Player 0 or Player 1. This is how it is handled in code but it is less than clear under normal circumstanced so the report now is Player 1 and Player 2.
13. Napalm has had a slight increase in effectiveness.
