Bug: If a ship full of cargo tries to load more it will clear all orders
Anybody ever wondered why the colony ship didn't move although it was surely ordered? It has happened to me a few times but now I know why.
If your ship has an order to load something and it has no cargo space left, it will clear all its oders. That means if you order a colony ship to colonize a planet, orders will be: load population, move to location, colonize planet. If you manually load the ship full of population after giving the order, the colony ship will clear all its orders when it reach the "load population" point, thus not moving at all.
Orders won't be cleared if there is any cargo space left, even if the unit in question doesn't fit to it.
I will email this to MM.

Hm that's strange. I have done that a lot of times before and never noticed the colony ship to clear its orders

I always load the population manually (usually maximum possible) and then hit the colonize button and the orders are not cleared. This may though happen if foe example you load the full cargo of population from 1 planet then give orders to load some more from another planet and then colonize.

Re: Bug: If a ship full of cargo tries to load more it will clear all orders
No, the key is as Asmala says you give the ships colonize orders before manually loading the ship. If you give an empty ship the colonize order, what it actually gets is three orders. Load population, move to, and colonize. If you give a ship that already has pop in cargo the colonize order you only get the Last two, move to and colonize. The game is smart enough to see that there is already people on board.
However, if you give the empty ship the colonize order, and then fill it's cargo, it still has all three orders. When the turn gets processed it tries the first order and stops. If you were playing in turn based mode this is where you would see a "Ship cannot load cargo because it is full" message and you'd have to click ok. In simultaneous games though you can't click ok so it just cancels any subsequent orders and waits for the next turn when you can give it orders it can carryout.
This is a very old bug that's been mentioned before. Hopefully it will get fixed this time around. Did you send a savegame with your email Asmala?

There's no problem if you first load the colony ship full of population and after that hit the colonize button, since colony ship won't get the load population order if there is any population on board already.

Strange it's not fixed if it's a old bug. I'd think it's not very difficult to fix.
It was so late yesterday when I found the bug I decided to send the email later so I haven't sent it yet. Perhaps I should include a savegame to it.

Is there a new patch history.txt beyond 1.86?
Slick.

Start a classical turn game, then after while switch one of the AIs to your control. Check the message log. You will see "can't load cargo.." Messages. Notice colony ships and population transports hanging around the HW despite many uncolonized planets in the system. Now, save the game and compare two scenarious: 1) continue to play this race with all ministers "on" but with you watching its turns - all those ships will magically start to move as they should. 2) turn this race back to computer, play few turns and then go back to this race - all those ships are still on the orbit and a bunch of "can't load cargo.."

Re: Bug: If a ship full of cargo tries to load more it will clear all orders
Oleg you are saying the AI can not Colonize Planets in Standard mode?
Thats funny, the AI in my AIC games Colonize very many Planets.
And when I compare POP in the score screen they look like they are doing very well with total pop and planets.
True some times the Transports pick up some other units but there is usually room for a pop or two
It is easier to follow up on the total picture... If the players refer to the Score Screen {f5/scores} - they will see that the AI TOTAL Population and Planet Colonization totals are fine and constantly growing. And are in fact very competitive
