Is there a list of troops, sorted by nation?
The manual and in-game blurbs both give brief breakdowns of certain strengths and weaknesses of each nation, but there's no way to tell what a nation's actual troops are like short of starting a new game and looking for yourself, unless I'm missing some place where this is all documented. This is pretty critical information, so.
Don't say Dom3DB, because while that has a listing of troops for each nation, all it lists are the names of the troops, not any of their specific properties, and to look those up you have to go to the giant, unorganized AllUnits section. What a pain.

Re: Is there a list of troops, sorted by nation?
The customary way of doing this is to start a game called "EA View" or something and add all EA nations to it with human players (set the first one to "Human" and then hit "N" to add a new random player until it stops letting you add more). When you want to examine troops, start up the game and load that nation.
This is simpler than looking it up through the Dom3DB, but of course the DB wasn't designed for that presumably because there's already another way of doing it. Please be careful about tone when criticizing work done for free by volunteers. It would be very easy to destroy a valuable resource by making volunteers feel unappreciated. Anyway, if the first method doesn't work for you (e.g. you need to view units from a computer without Dom3 on it) feel free to modify the list from the Dom3 DB and post it here. No one has done that so far because no one has needed it enough to do the extensive work required.

Re: Is there a list of troops, sorted by nation?
The EA View method (well MA) ended up working. Thanks.
If I were to do my own version of this (and I might, because that MA View method is pretty obscure) I'd use http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Dominio...ening/The_Eras instead of an excel spreadsheet. The groundwork's already laid, I'd just have to enter the values, and unlike a spreadsheet it doesn't have to be downloaded.

Obscure? Looking at something in the game to find out about it? I think that's as far from obscure as you can get. I mean that's the first place I would think to look.

No, it is kind of obscure. Needing to go through all the scut-work of setting up a game with every nation is silly. There should simply be a way in dom3 to view a nations recruitables. Like a step before nation design.

Re: Is there a list of troops, sorted by nation?
*Heaven* would be an enhanced "choose your destiny"... ehm I mean in-game initial nation overview window - showing on the bottom the little icons of the recruitable units AND heroes AND the national summons avaible (something you can't really see easily in the "EA View" method), which you can right-click to see all your units-commanders-summons-heroes stats (and combine it with the manual's "grimorium" so you can design a proper pretender and come with a valid research strategy from the very first game) ^^...

Re: Is there a list of troops, sorted by nation?
Sombre has a link to a Dom3 links thread in his sig. From there, you can find Sunray's site. He hosts a brief unit list document where you can find that sort of list, but it does not have the newere nations in it. Has Lanka for certain, but I don't know aboutthe other ones (Fomoria, Tir na n'Og, Eriu, Bogarus, SC Pythium and definitely not Hinnom, Ashdod and Gath unless it was recently updated).
The Dom3 DB does not have a listing of units by nation simply because doing a display page like that is far more trouble than it's worth at the moment. Too many other things to do at the moment.

Monkeyfinger,
Good point, StrategyWiki would be a good place for that information.
