I love those moments! It's so much fun (as well as argivating) to see your hinge pin, your keystone, you most critical unit to a defence or attack fail and leave you with a bunch of pieces that you now have to use to stop the enemy at all costs. Those are the moments you really learn how to play. Granted, playing against a bunch of guys that don't supress, don't run and don't miss would take some skill.

As Esme Weatherwax says in Pratchett's Witches Abroad, "If you play Cripple Mr. Onion with someone that was a detached retina in her second-sight, you learn to play fast!" Or translated for non-pratchett fans, pretend you learned to play pocker with someone that could look over your shoulder in the future. At that point, bluffing doesn't work, you've got to "Get 'er done!"

my last battle was an advance, and i set up the exp of the ai at 70. i confirm that the game is easier at that level, although i was sometimes overconfident ;-)

i think that the next step in difficulty is to play vs true humans...

It's amazing how much more i've learned through playing human opponents, even when i lose.
What you gain is some their experience and strategies.

I highly recommend it:)

That is a drawback with PBEM,but playing a human opponent is so much more a challenge and interesting.

I've not played one player yet who didn't surprise me in some way.

That's why "I" and others have several games going at the same time.;)

Everyone is different able to think out the norm and change stratagies depending on the current play that's makes for more exciting play IMO.

Yes, lot's of PBEMers have multiple games going at once. It's not quite the same as playing one game turn after turn but that's the attraction for some players.
