Anyone else gets a feeling that we are playing at indies 9? [I know, it's 6]

Numahr August 16th, 2010 04:38 AM

Re: Troubling Times: Large EA CBM Game (Started)

About half of the provinces receive special script regarding their indy garrisons. This is unrelated to the level for independants decided in the game settings (6 or 9). Mostly these provinces are those with VP but not only. When the map designer did not create a special script for a given province, then only the 6 level is applied to random indies.

What you are discovering is an old world with a life of its own, with entities unwilling to bend by the new God(s) trying to extend their Dominions...

still applies. :D

(Seriously though, so far I haven't fallen victim to any surprises, but I am looking forward to the clump of Air mages ready to orb lightning and shock wave me to death in an otherwise innocuous looking province.)

Re: Troubling Times: Large EA CBM Game (Started)

I know in which province those air mages are. Are you around? Wanna NAP? :P

Anyway, it should be fun game. Too bad we can't see huge army size drops on score graphs, they must be happening. And probably some people got stuck in their cap, scared of surrounding wilderness.

Re: Troubling Times: Large EA CBM Game (Started)

I think there are several of those air mage clumps, at least I seem to remember running into them a couple of times testing expansion. No idea if there are any close to my start location though. :)

Not feasable in any way. People have a daily schedule, you know, which for most of us involves at least sleaping, eating and going to work, which in my case leaves me with a daily ~5hr period between 19h00 and 24h00 in which to do my turn, and an absolute impossibility to play in the 19 hours in between. (on the average weekdays) Can't imagine the poor people with kids who have to wait till after putting them to bed to take their turns.

Edit: Hey! The post I replied to has magically disappeared! This might leave me looking slightly stupid. ;)

Reading Corwin's comments in the 'Fire+Ice' thread, I get the impression that Executor might not be back for a while yet, so I'm going to start looking for a sub for C'tis. Since I am currenty over my game limit, and the size of this game could see it become a rather large time sink very quickly. Which would cause me a problem or two. (plus take me down the "spending too much time playing too many Dominions games" road, which I promised myself I'd never do again)

But I'll obviously keep playing until I find a sub. As I hate seeing staling nations in games more than anyone. Although if anyone knows anyone who might be interested in taking C'tis on, then please ask them to PM me :)

Just letting you all know that Ferrosol has very kindly agreed to take over C'tis for me on a more permanent basis than I was signed-up for. So can you all please direct diplomatic envoys, tributes, and pleas of mercy regarding C'tis in his direction from now on :)

@ Amhazair - I've PM-ed you Ferrosol's email address for you to do the switch over.

@ All - Best of luck with the game everyone

All right. Thanks a lot Calahan, first for subbing, and then for finding a sub for yourself before I had even learned you were looking for one.

Welcome to the game Ferrosol, I sent you a new turn, should be in your mailbox any minute now. I'll be around from now till hosting time, so if needed I can extend the timer.

Blergh. I was hoping for a massive responce so I could abuse my powers to roll back the game, but looks like it ain't happening. I'll just have to catch up then.

On the bright side: one turn with no recruitment did leave me some spare cash. Waiter: One castle please, pronto!

Greetings from Phloogh'thlog, Greatest Mind Lord of R'lyeh,

The central seas are ours. Enter at your peril. But we wish all of our coastal neighbours good fortune and offer them our assistance in their trials with each other and the barbarians inhabiting these lands. Let us bring these lands under the yoke of enslavement and enjoy our rightfully deserved control.

Our mind lords will soon be ready to provide timely and secret assistance.

Re: Troubling Times: Large EA CBM Game (Started)

We've had our first stales in the last couple of turns. One stale doesn't necesarily have to mean much, but I think I'll be making a habit of checking in on every staling player just to make sure.

So if you happen to receive a PM after you stale, don't feel singled out or attacked, it's just a safety precaution.

P.S. No one has staled twice for now, so, as I said, probably norhing going on so far.

Zeldor August 22nd, 2010 11:44 AM

Re: Troubling Times: Large EA CBM Game (Started)

Yeah, talk to them, it'd be good to stick to 24h till turn 25. Especially with so many players and so many delays.

Amhazair August 23rd, 2010 01:40 AM

Re: Troubling Times: Large EA CBM Game (Started)

Since Weltimat, who plays Agartha and staled last turn has neither submitted a new turn yet, nor read the PM I sent him, I postponed hosting for 3 hours, so I'll be home before hosting time so I can assess the situation if needed. I'd rather not have a player stale twice in a row at this stage of the game if I can help it.

The few people who still have to submit their turn: Unless you have a good reason for delay, don't wait till the new dealine please. Anyone knowing for certain that Agartha's position is currently 'walk away' material due to poor expansion and/or being defeated by a rush, please let me know so at least the nation can be set to Ai. (No idea why I think that this might be the case after only 11 turns, but I do have a hunch.)

Zeldor August 23rd, 2010 06:05 AM

Re: Troubling Times: Large EA CBM Game (Started)

The Mighty Micro Empire of Ermor has come under attack! Unfortunately, the great city was founded near the Spine of the World, just Northwest of mighty Hinnom...

But all is not lost, the legions have rallied and native peoples have been conscripted to join the fight, desperately trying to keep the giants at bay. The legions have even slain a few of the mighty Melqarts, but this luck will surely be fleeting.

So this call to arms goes out to any other nations who border Hinom: Attack the man-eating giants now lest you be consumed yourself in due time. To those who doubt this warning, heed the long spoken mantra, "Hinom Eats EVERYTHING!"

Grr! I need a scout province! My kingdom for a scout province! I'm (almost) blind to my surroundings, and that's not a nice feeling. And whose idea was it anyway to make this game graphs off! Grr! Again.

Anyone feel like selling me a scout province I can teleport to, conquer, and start buying scouts from? I would greatly appreciate such a gesture. ;) (Not that I can teleport yet, but whatever...)

well, in LA you sometimes recruit spies or even assassins from them, and there are those odd times you'd recruit non mages commanders as well.

but anyway, this is EA we're talking about, indy scouts aren't that common in EA as opposed to the other eras... but hey, you're complaining about the lack of scouts? what will I as an UW nation say? indy scouts are just not available, not *rare*, *not available*...
