Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

Name: A Totally Civil Union (ATCU)
Host: llamaserver.net
Age: EA
Map: Shadowshore
Turns: 36h, extensions upon request
Number of Players: 8-12
Mod: Forbidden Friendship 2.1 (a combination of Awesome Gods, Awesome Endgame [both of them major Dom3Goon mods], and CBM)
Non-Standard Settings: Hall of Fame entries 15; No graphs; rename on
Victory Conditions: Last one standing (or whoever is willing to go on with the late game grind)
Diplomacy Policy: All trades are expected to be completed. It's just good sportsmanship. Everything else? Go nuts. Just keep in mind that breaking treaties may or may not earn you a reputation, both in game and out. You can also choose whether or not to keep treaties secret or announce them publically in the thread (or via message system). Doesn't do anything, of course, except makes betrayals known (and thus attaches a cost to breaking treaties). Coalitions against one nation are also allowed.

Also, the more thematic and IC you are for in-game and diplomatic messagings, the more awesome points you win (redeemable for absolutely nothing).

NATIONS (11/11)
Me: ummmmm, Mictlan (lol)
Jolly Roger: Abysia
Ragnarok-X: Maverni
dojango: Kailasa
HoleyDooley: Agartha
jimbojones1971: Niefelheim
KeithZ: Lanka
Shardphoenix: Pangaea
TimeLegend: Tir'Na'Nog
bbz: Fomoria
Nightfall: Oceania

For long I have been considering trying out a game with some of the mods from the dom3 goon community. The three mods incorporated are Awesome Gods (which make pretenders drastically more powerful in different ways: I suggest you experiment with them), and Awesome Endgame (which makes a number of summons, from elemental royalty to wraith lords and krakens, more powerful as well), and CBM.

I'd download and take a look at the mods themselves before taking the game up (in fact, that's what I'm going to do right now). www.proactiveapathy.com/dom3/mods/mods.html

Abysia

For those of you wanting to try out what the Awesome Endgame mod does, if you download the singular mod, there's a test nation under EA which has all the modded monsters under recruitables.

found a bug that you might want to mod out. Fomoria ultimate spell-murder of crows that summons 16 morrigans costs no gems o.O and gives you 16 morrigans.

Jimbo, please read the fine print in the rules section.

It say "No rush strategies allowed".

Looking through the GoonDom3 thread, it's 30 gems.

I'm trying to find the fixed version for it on the Goons thread, but thus far it won't let me download it. So I'll put up a quick fix for it and we'll go with that (I believe there's also a bug with the Terichik sprite, but that's an added LA Atlantis summon so its all good).

Order is back to +7% per tick instead of +6% gold per tick, and production is back to 2% per tick. However, a tick of production is now 25% resources (which means +/- 75% resources, making sloth/production potentially very ruinous/powerful). Growth is similar to the changes made in CBM, but minus the supply bonus/malus. Luck and Magic are unchanged in both.

I'd say that order is powerful for those who need gold, but it's very risky to take sloth or death to pay for it. A luck/turmoil strategy is still (as ever) viable. Something like Abysia would likely benefit drastically by taking prod and order.

Hmm, let me guess. You're going to try and leverage the freespawn Vinemen from the Master Druid, along with GoRing the Vine Kings for cheap, no-upkeep N3 mages? ;)

I tried that with some of the other freespawn pretenders like the Mother of Tuatha (they have the same base stats as Tuatha, just no magic/priest skill: kind of a bummer, since I was thinking Man might end up using them for thugs/SCs: still, the Tuatha troops are great blessed cavalry, and even without magic have great stats to kit out).

No. E/W/N blessed centaurs on a big fat earthmother chassis.
Or maybe not. Maybe I have another devious plan. :)

Re: Newbie/Intermediate Forbidden Friendship Game: A Totally Civil Union (Recruiting)

Heh. Well, I'm still unsure as to what I'm going to do (Tien Chi is overwhelming me with options), and I really wish I could make use of the Divine Throne chassis (dat bless), but then again Ermor has nothing good to bless in the first place. Then there's Ulm and the Great White Bull, but the lack of magic diversity doesn't sync well with my play-style (then again, cheap E/N bless is nice). I also don't want to do another 'heim game for awhile.

Bah.

just a quick question what happened to the gem generatrs at the awesome endgame? are they in or not

bbz May 20th, 2012 05:59 AM

Re: Newbie/Intermediate Forbidden Friendship Game: A Totally Civil Union (Recruiting)

Oh and another quick question. Wouldnt shadowshore be too packed for 12 people? especially if we dont get an underwater nation. The other game that is played on it which is the Multiplayer AAR game, has 8. I think up to 9-10 should be fine(9 with 1 underwater would be perfect). But 12 is a bit too much for a small map. (just my opinion)

P.s no need to answer the previous one. Gem-generators are made non-unique in awesome items mod not in the forbidden friendship.

Forbidden Friendship is a combination of AE, AG, and CBM. It pretty much maintains many of the balance changes in CBM, excepting some changes to some really big summons (zmey nerf, yays! Krakens have crazy magic paths).

If you guys would like, we can start with 10.

bbz May 21st, 2012 07:03 AM

Re: Newbie/Intermediate Forbidden Friendship Game: A Totally Civil Union (Recruiting)

10 people = 13.3 provinces per player which is pretty standard so yea I'd be happy to start.

I'll sign up as Oceania if you still want a water nation.

Alright then, I'll close the game right now.

Also, **** it. I'm going to go ahead and play Mictlan (never played it before, and I'm pretty bad at rushes), and hope it doesn't blow up in my face. Tien Chi just has too many choices : psyduck : .

Mictlan with no SDRs here we go!

Game link here.

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

OK you download the mod. Unzip in the mod directory, then activate it. then go and create a pretender for your nation. Then you go to saved games directory/newlords and there is your pretender .2h file you send that via email at pretenders@llamaserver.net put as a subject of the email the exact name of the game(the way you see it in the link so: ATCU_A_Totally_Civil_Union)
Then after all the pretenders have been sent you will receive an email with the first turn attached to it. Create a new folder in the savedgames directory named by your preference, and save the first turn .trn file in it. Then you start dominions click start game and there will be a game named the way you named the folder. Click on it. Play it out, click end turn. then open the same folder that you created and there will be a .2h file in it (and the .trn file) so you just reply to the email that you received for the first turn attaching your .2h file.

Hope I didn't miss anything:)

If ya say so. Well really the hardest thing so far was to find the files because my computer arranges things very oddly.

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

Silly question, but when i do pretender creation I can't see anything different about any of the pretenders available. I've checked the mods activated when I create the pretender, and I am pretty sure I've got FF (only) active.

Two questions:
1) should I be able to notice anything different?
2) can someone give me an example or two of funky pretender things that show up for particular nations, so I can confirm to my own satisfaction that I am doing this right?

(The pretender costs look different - pretty sure Dragons are cheaper for example - so maybe everything is indeed as it should be. But I'd just like to make sure, for peace of mind!)

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

Jimbo,

Check out the Risen Oracle, available only to Agartha.

Vanilla CBM he has 1E and 1D and 60 points for a new path.

In FF, he has 3E and 3D and 20 points per new path.

Cheers,

HD

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

Something is wrong with the great mother. She has WNE3 in the selection screen, yet when you level her magic, she has WNE1. Ingame, she gets the correct paths (i.e. WNE3 + whatever you boosted) but blesses dont apply.

bbz May 22nd, 2012 04:41 PM

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

Yea apparently thats how they made some things. Some pretenders were made powerfull for blesses others were made powerful only for magic paths. And obv some for both:)

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

So what you are saying is that this behavior is actually intended ? Im not sure, but if you say so, it is. In that case, i will send in a pretender tomorrow.

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

don't take my word for granted, i just seemed to remember other pretenders that did the same thing

dojango May 22nd, 2012 08:11 PM

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]

yeah, that's intended behavior. some pretenders get a boost to their blessings (the bulls, the divine throne) while some pretenders get boosts to their paths (forge lord) and some get penalties to their blessings (earth mother, virtue).

I saw a discussion with the mod creator - this is most definitely the intended behaviour.

Will get my pretender in tonight, guys - thanks for giving me the example with Agartha HD.
