Yes, you can. You need to edit two files: Main_ComponentConfigurationSlotsPlayer.txt and SpaceObjects_XFiles.txt.

For the first I strongly suggest you get SJ's Slotmodder. http://imagemodserver.mine.nu/starfury Then add the new slots you want to the hull you want them on.

Second, you go into the space objects file, find the hull you edited before, and change its hardpoints. These determine where a shot comes from and what angle it can shoot at- a slot's firing arc cannot exceed the arc allowed for its hardpoint.

And if I can How so? the scripting in this is
a tad...different from SE:IV but I'm trying to design a "Terran Gun Boat with at least 4 90 degree
turrets on each side light weap or heavy.

Oh! and also I got the patch in there but commodities still don't show up...

Argh! I forgot the firing-points thing. I wanted to add weapons to the Sithrak portal so it could defend itself but I have no idea how to add firing points to a 3D object. Scratch that idea....

The firing points are easy to add- they're just XYZ cordinates like the engine points. You don't have to edit the model at all, its all in the text files.

But I'd have to be able to figure out where the X/Y/Z points should be to look like it's emerging from the hull. Otherwise the beams might mysteriously start in empty space beside it, or try to emerge OUT of it, possibly hitting 'itself' and doing damage?
