Question about game mechanics

Hi!

I have a question: the phase of game where the enemy (AI) makes it moves, can take a lot of time. Every enemy unit firing several time. I wonder if there is a way to end the enemy's turn immediately and get same results, without having to watch every single move.

Hope it makes sense,

Re: Question about game mechanics

You will see every single move of the enemy in the range of your units vision,I think this is a must if you wanna know what is happening on the battlefield.

Anyway if you want to speed up you may set, in the preferences screen, animation level bar and message delay bar to 0, fast artillery on, animation off, hidden fire on.

Hidden fire has nothing to do with animation!

Game manual, Preferences Screen - General preferences box - hidden fire.

Re: Question about game mechanics

Clearly hidden fire has nothing to do with animation but if a unit remain hidden it cannot receive op-fire and this fact will speed up the game. I may be wrong.

If hidden fire is on - then you get the normal full game mechanics where whether or not the firer gets spotted on firing a shot (if he is currently hidden) is due to chance rolls, based on weapon size and type, spotter skills, number of enemy potential spotters overwatching the shooter etc.

If it is OFF then you are now playing in beginner's and young kid's mode. Anyone firing is instantly revealed when it fires. That, of course means that more targets will become spotted, so get shot at in return fires or later in the move. Thus, in that mode, more shots will likely be flung around the battlefield in more engagements, so playing in that mode is not that likely to help a player who wants the AI turn to go faster http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif!
