headquarters

Surely this question has already been done, but found nothing.
In great battles over 6 companies, or more than two battalions, I mean at the brigade level, you can create battalion commanders? And the A0 unit is a brigade commander?
Maybe not relevant, but it would help to better organize the troops.
Maybe a patch for 2015 .... :)
Sorry developers, who sabbatical bother with this nonsense ...

Re: headquarters

The A0 is the "Commander".
If you're playing company size battle it's the Company Commander.
If you're at brigade level ... guess what, it's the Brigade Commander.

Generally Companies and Platoons have their own command unit so for the most part A0 represents a Battalion Commander.

There's no practical way, or real need, to create a Command Structure above company level in the game. Company Commanders are out in the field personally directing and encouraging their people. Battalion and higher commanders are usually in a headquarters somewhere in the rear not out personally telling a machinegun team "Shoot that!".

Re: headquarters

Thanks Suhiir. I understand. I talked about the lack of battalion commanders. I feel the need for them at the organizational level. Only when playing with more than 6 companies. And right now I have a couple of big games ....
If not possible, no problem.

Re: headquarters

I think the last time the subject was discussed, one good suggestion was to use the battalion heavy weapon company commander to represent the battalion commander. This would allow him to shepherd the battalion mortar, anti-tank etc. support platoons, though having no effect on the line infantry companies.

This is what I've done too. I create a company level formation, then add in say mortars, inf-SAMs, and other bn level weapons and units. Immediately following the Bn Coy, I list the line companies.

Building Battalion Command Structure in WinSpMbt

In order to insert a battalion command structure in winSpMBT scenarios, we must subordinate line companies to the company designated as the battalion. While it is not possible to do so in Editor, we can subordinate rifle companys to a Battalion HHC using ScenHack and the cross-attach function in the Editor. The steps are outlined as follows:

Please note the Bn HHC does not command a single line company. Now, to proceed:
1. Load the scenario in ScenHack
2. In Formations Editor, or goto Formations -> Formations
3. Find Bn HHC
4. Select first Rifle Company
a. Change Formation Level to Platoon
b. Repeat this step for remaining rifle companies in the battalion
c. Save changes in ScenHack

Proceed to Editor:
1. Load scenario
2. Goto Roster in Deploy screen

3. Select Rifle Company
4. Select Cross-attach Platoon
5. Select Bn HHC
6. Select Assign to this CHQ
a. Repeat steps 3-6 for remaining Rifle Companies
7. Select Bn HHC from Roster
a. Verify 3 Rifle Companies in Bn HHC command

8. Save scenario in Editor
9. Load saved scenario in ScenHack
10. Goto Formations Editor
11. Change each Rifle Company Formation Level to Company
12. Save scenario
Load scenario in Editor

13. Click on each Rifle Co HQ to verify platoons are subordinated

Now, you’re ready to go into battle!

Still evaluating this hack in my Red Line Syria 1/6 Marines battle with a Syrian Inf Bde of three battalions.

Not sure the Bn HHC has an impact on the line companies, but sure as heck looks good in the roster.

Thanks for the info.
But this works for pbem battles? Or would only scenarios.

Re: headquarters

Only scenarios as PBEM won't allow you to access the Scenario Editor.
