Use toxin injectors.
They ignore shield and armour so you only have to inflict 200 to 300 damage to kill a ship.

Use tachyon beams (shield skipping) for quick fighter and satellite kills, as well...

Alternatively, make a cloaking device like armour (destroyed before internal components), quite large and low damage capacity (5 points?).

Your sensor sat Groups / warhead could do say 5 points...

On the planets screen, clicking the name of each column will sort the planets, change the filter to get access to the different things.

I started a single player game with clean 1.49 mod Last week and beat the pants off the AI. Peaceful strategy, high bonus for AI.

I felt a little upset seeing as I've been annihilated in PBW games...

Why not add a ship readiness state like Starfire. Ships at general quarters cost a lot more to maintain than ships at lower readiness states but their reaction...

2. Could be that the transport default strategy is set to 'pop. transport'.
If you put the design under satallite layer (if there is such a thing) or defense ship it will probably launch sats.
