Maybe the solution was to simply comment out the Warp Flash entry, then. It's a simple edit to the file to kill the animation entirely; I just forget which it was. Place // at the start of every line...

Whether you buy a new copy or use the one you already have, you'll get the exact same executables after applying the latest patch... You just won't have the expansion content with your original copy....

The only remotely close way to simulate such a thing in SE4 would be to space the offending aliens (load them into a cargo ship/base, then jettison cargo).

The last person that was posting about this on se5.com could not get the US patch to apply to a freshly installed UK English version, and had to apply a patch first.

You can apply the latest US English patches to the UK English version, so long as you apply a fairly recent UK patch first.
