All my large (Drazi) ships have 1 launch catapult.
The fighters are more a distraction than a threat unless I can get some good weaps for them. Found those few extra...

Psychic: Steal all those ships and get great fighter weap.

Psychic+Religion: Never miss steal ships...
Though I never take Reli alone as my favorite...

Early Game:
PPB: It skips their sheilds (since phased sheilds are mid/late game) does reasonable damage and reasonable range
Fighters: Powerfull but defeated by PD, use it while you still can

When testing the new Version I encoutered an ancient bug with the shadows.

External cargo pods are in the same familiy as human computers but higher in upgrade priority. Thus the upgrade option...

As far as I can tell mounting a range 20 weapon leaves its range at 20.

On the topic of moveing asteroids how about a gravitational slingshot. Holds 1 asteroid at a time, must return to a field for reloading. Can't be done in current Version but that would be sweet! ...

I'v found one realy good place for sheild re-gen.

Consider this starbase that I call Undaunted:
about 2000 sheilds
regens 1000 per turn
massive anti-proton beams(range 15)
religious talisman...
