I didn't even think of using the compass, and I won't, its space after all...most of the times I use the sun and nebulaes to navigate...but yes, its kinda strange, one would think spaceships have...

He means on the map scale.
No, there is no other way.
You have to orientate yourself by using planets, nebulaes etc you can see on the system map.
Its tiresome in the beginning, but you grow...

Um, I built one carrier, put it full with fighter bays and cargo holds, put a LOT of fighters in...flew 2 or 3 times through the wormhole and had like 150 fighters or so attacking an enemy...

Tech Levels

The concept of the tech levels is pretty crappy in my opinion...especially for things like fighterbays...they get a higher techlevel, cost more money but are EXACTLY the same as the levels before...

Hrm...I just accepted a mission to clear a system of a Cylon Battlegroup...that "group" consisted of 4!! Basestars and 4!! Attackstars!
And I had less than 70 clicks time for it *lol*

I have a PIII 1000 with 512 SD133 RAM and an old GeForce 2 MX. I don't really have any problems. Only when flying through nebulas the framrate drops and the game slows down somewhat, its not too...

I did play the Battlestar Galactica mod for some time and pretty much enjoyed it, especially the nice Battlestar model and the cool music and landscapes.
Alas...I played it on the hardest setting....

Fighters are coded really bad.
If you try to lauch multiple fighters (which should work when you have multiple figher bays) the fighters tend to collide with each other.
When you lauch or recover...
