I haven't had any problems; I've run each point release of 10.6 from 10.6.0 to the current 10.6.3. And my Macbook Pro is almost four years old.

Any other details/pattern?

They seem not to have updated the version number in the "get info" window (ever, apparently). Launch the app and look in the lower left-hand corner, you'll see the true version there.
