On my system, windowed mode SPMBT uses 48% of the CPU since it is always running in its own partition. It isn't designed for sharing resources while running (as succinctly stated by Mobhack Andy). ...

Regardless of which side I'm started on, I simply cycle the "Redraw Map for current battle location" button to find a suitable terrain layout for the approach I want to try. The side you're stuck...
