A different way to win a battle

So you are a Platoon Commander on the border between South West Africa and Angola in the late 1980's, you have a very good, highly trained and experienced platoon, supported by a mortar section.

Re: Campaign Experience

I would always prefer at least some loose approach to realism, its just the way I am.

Have never really looked at desertion rates in WWII, but I would suspect they would be highest in the best...

Re: "Recent changes" ?

But they will fire at a Hellfire armed drone yes?
Also sometimes it seems Hellfire armed drones will turn up before SEAD aircraft. Anyone else had this happen?

Re: Was the Type 99 Antiaircraft Sight ever Used?

In the 1980's in the British Army we were certainly taught to fire just about anything, and everything, against enemy Helos. On excercise I recall coys occasionally blazing away at jets with blanks...

Re: Campaign Experience

I watched Fury only once, but I am pretty sure they didn't stay put to defend their tank. They stayed there to stop a massacre against a supply unit or something.[/QUOTE]

Yes I have only watched...

Re: Your Favorite Movie Quotes

From 'Good Kill' (2014)
Cop: "How is the war on terror going?"
Former Air Force Fighter pilot: "About as well as your war on drugs."

(Although, IMHO, in all honesty, the war on terror is going...

British Army Gurkhas to increase.

In a rare piece of good news the British Army is due increase Gurkha recruitment by 25%. A move I certainly support.

Re: Silver Lions are coming to Poland!

Without, I hope, getting too political I think a lot of the US/NATO - Russian problems, at the moment, are largely manufactured. Largely for historical reasons I support the NATO defence of Poland....

Re: Rhodesian Army infantry 1965-80

Re: Engineer Satchel Charge Blowback?

Yes I always thought that a chain of suicide bombers setting each other off in a row was one of the games cutest effects! Always makes me smile.

Btw, I also think there is a strong case for UK expanding the excellent Gurkha Rifles to a full brigade.
