Re: Troop Quality in preferences

I can't see them dealing with bunkers with that peashooter, even if it is worthy of that 6 AP rating (salvo is another matter of course). So this would mean that they used salvo on fortresses? Did...

Re: Soviet Campaigns

I didn't understand that nobody could play the Japanese side. A bad game for the AI nonetheless.

Re: Soviet Campaigns

I just keep thinking in terms of 'scenarios' when I see these scripted campaigns, as such I imagine that you could play either side. Besides, I was still talking from the point-of-view that the...

Re: Troop Quality in preferences

No, it's not 6, Smersh. I stated earlier that it's AP round is stronger than ANY German round in '39. I only mention '39 with certainty because that's where i have campaigned and saw it). The best...

Re: Troop Quality in preferences

Oh yeah, just look at all of those T34's, KV's, and JS's that had them.

In that case we should get the 20L55 German gun another 4 or 5pts of anti-tank punch because it was used the whole war.

Re: Troop Quality in preferences

Yes, I know they did, but not because it was effective. The early war guns were always put on light AFV's after they became failures elsewhere. The reason being because they were useless for any role...

Re: Soviet Campaigns

Oh, I wasn't saying that one couldn't do a campaign on '45 Manchuria, in fact I've seen some, but what I was saying is that it makes for a pretty poor one if you find some way to really reflect what...

Re: German Biased?

What I meant about German POV, is that I'm trying to eliminate units in most cases as the furtherest distance possible, such that fighting in jungle conditions would allow very little if any of that....

Re: Soviet Campaigns

No Smersh. I stated earlier that they had less regard, but not totally no regard for their men, then the western nations. I clarified that later, and if you think with all those examples of not...

Re: Troop Quality in preferences

Okay, obviously I took the first T38M1938 I saw and didn't know of the other (the one I took was buried deep enough as it was).

I don't know, but it just seems to me that the effective pricing of...

Re: Some issues?

I think I mixed you up on that one. I was triyng to make a point that gunning down men with a BMG, if they scattered, would not work as well as with pistols, BUT that would only be true at 0m. I was...

Re: German Biased?

No, sorry, I think that was for this thread, as I wasn't talking to PatG in that one, and though it's related I couldn't find anything that it looked like I was responding to there. I was repsonding...

Re: German Biased?

Oh yeah, I kind of forgot about that, but it seems in thick woods (realizing now this is the wrong thread) that they always react even if it is just a move of one hex. Maybe I just haven't been...

Re: German Biased?

Well sure, but I'm playing primarily from the German POV no matter what side I play and the Chinese are WAY bad in that department. Heck, what infantry isn't good in jungles against AFV's? I gave...

Re: Some issues?

I'm sorry snake, but in all my experience playing the various versions of SP, I've never seen that tanks were worse off than rifle fire. I'm just pleased to be hosing them down pretty much to any...

Re: Troop Quality in preferences

I don't know how you came about your figures, but my encyclopedia says you're wrong. The T35 1938 is 58pts, not 68. And that's based on 70 experience, not the game experience. With the game...

Re: Troop Quality in preferences

This may not work across the board to show tanks that aren't driven by systems and experience/morale alone, but look at this:

The wimpiest German tank with a standard MG is the PZIB for 24pts (I...

Re: Soviet Campaigns

I agree with a lot of that, but I can't help but notice the difference between their attitudes fighting the US and the USSR. Sure them getting beaten by the USSR before made them weary to some...

Re: Would like to see?

Well I'm glad to see that you actually meant what you were saying as opposed to just mis-speaking. Yeah, a game like that might be pretty interesting, but if it's the lack of knowing where he will...

Re: Soviet Campaigns

Okay.

Well, yes, I would imagine that there were no penal battalions used in that way there, but, you don't establish the enemy's attitude toward his own losses the hour he's attacking you....

Re: Infantry Casualties at 50m

I haven't seen enough 50m battles to comment, but just look at the next longest range, 100m. 50m fire ought to be twice as effective, though I never think of it in those terms. Another thing too,...

Re: Soviet Campaigns

Smersh:

This wasn't a pitched tank-to-tank battle. You need only look at the statistics for the prmiary Pole tanks to see they're at least the equal to the German ones, but, then, as I said, I...

Re: Infantry Casualties at 50m

And somebody was complaining earlier of the infantry being too tough. This version 'may' be a bit too easy, but then I know the previous version was way too tough.

Re: Soviet Campaigns

Oh come on Smersh, Japan was basically Poland in 1945; it's barely comparable and the Germans weren't with T34/85's and JS-III's either. Heck, I played Poland just a little while back and had just as...
