Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

Wow, judging by the score graphs, there have been some fantastic battles waged this turn.

As for stopping Pythium's advance... I've pummelled his lead army, but I see no way to take any territory...

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

Ahhh, finally something worked! And better than I expected -- it's a sweet surprise when mage fatigue works to your advantage.

Too bad poison golems are not so easy to roast.

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

Heh, Agartha going AI wouldn't affect you that much -- I'm pretty tied up at the moment, you'd just have to divert a handful of forces to clean up his provinces.

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

OK, this game is making less and less sense...

Why is every one of my attackers getting Soul Slayed when they attempt to strike a Queen of Elemental Air? Is this yet another bizzare CBM effect?

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

Yay, we're back in business!

Now all I need is a "cast flaming death to mages hiding on the back row of the battlefield" spell!

Re: Besieging undead armies

Don't forget the Domkill option. Park an army to defend the territory and some priests to preach. Use your other forces to mop up his other territories, and he'll go away when his dominion vanishes.

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

No, the default behavior for a mage with orders "Stay behind troops" is to cast spells. The only reason he didn't cast was because the Harbringer had fire immunity from his sword, so fire spells...

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

Acashic Record, lots of surplus death gems. Also his pretender has D4 (along with E4N4).

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

It's hardly a mystery -- he has at least half a dozen castles popping out theurgs left and right. With that many mages, his research will naturally be huge.

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

Why bother? They can just wait a few turns, then take all my provinces from Pythium.

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

It looks like the term to keep in mind is "critical mass".

Half a dozen theurgs casting Thunderstrike isn't too bad; send in 100 troops, soak up some damage, kill them.

Two dozen theurgs doing...

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

It wasn't a war of expansion; it was a war of "get out of my way". Only reason it's not going well is because Pythium went around you, so now I'm focusing my attention where it belongs.

Re: Colonial Conquest - MA - (Running)

Works for me. Like you said, with Quickhost on, if we do get our turns in we can move on... and if not, we can get back to the fun in 2012.

Blowpipe paralyze

Well, this was quite a surprise.

I decided to give the Sidhe Lord strategy another try. Much to my surprise, they got whacked by Woodsmen Blowpipers. My reaction was "WHAT???!!!"

It turns out...

Re: What am I doing wrong?

My aim is to "rainbow kit" my thug. Spending 10 gems of each type is better than spending 70 gems of one type, unless I have an alternate use for them which is better.

Maybe my thug is good...
