Re: Venezuela OOB

I'm waiting on two books on Latin American armor...which seem to be lost in the mail at the moment http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I was hoping they would provide enough...

Re: New Thermal Sights for the USMC AAVP7

Well it would also seem extremely reasonable since that capability was essentially lost with the retirement of the LVTE1 (do you know when that happened?). Did it resemble the one on the LVTE1? ...

Re: New Thermal Sights for the USMC AAVP7

Is there actually a mine plow for the AAVP series? I've never seen a picture of one with it fitted. Also a google search turns up these forums as the only hits for a the AAVE designation. It would...

Re: New Thermal Sights for the USMC AAVP7

Heh, Don, at this rate would a WinSPMBT-Future with a timeline from 2020-? not be more appropriate http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: New Thermal Sights for the USMC AAVP7

That was my job heh. To put everything in the past tense essentially. My uncle also works on the thing and has talked vaguely about a number of issues remaining on it, mostly centering on the...

Re: New Thermal Sights for the USMC AAVP7

The globalsecurity.org page now incorporates relevant program history from the 2007 and 2008 GAO assessments. I can attest to them being verbatim from the reports since I copied, edited, and...

Re: New Thermal Sights for the USMC AAVP7

Is the AAVE7 designation actually used? From the info I've been getting at Amtrac.org (http://www.amtrac.org/2atmc/Tracs/gen3.asp), the LVTP7/AAVP7 series never had an official engineering vehicle,...

Re: New Thermal Sights for the USMC AAVP7

Good to know. I had added AAVP7s with MICLICs to my OOB, feeling that it wasn't seriously inaccurate in terms of game function, since the charge generally isn't used for anything other than mine...

Re: Israeli BRDM-2 w/ TOW

Is this something they're using or an export thing? The Israelis have produced a number of these types of things for the export market. Beyond that, I would think the last good opportunity to have...

Re: Expeditionary Fire Support System

Just an update. The 2008 version of the last GAO report I cited has just come out. The Full-Rate Production Decision is planned for May (delayed from last year).

Re: Iraq errors report

Honestly looks more like a Roland SAM carrier of some sort. There were a number of truck mountings, but this one doesn't look familiar.

Something similar to the German FlaRakRad...

Re: Expeditionary Fire Support System

Same was the case with the up armoring of HMMWVs. Public outrage led to increased armor with little appreciation for the almost equally dangerous rollover problems it caused when driving the vehicle...

Re: Mine Resistent Vehicles

I would agree that changing the survivability modifier is a better way to represent the benefits of hull armor on armored vehicles.

Re: Expeditionary Fire Support System

Alright, there is no IOC date in the GAO report. They were expecting a basic initial capability as of last July, and the design was reported as 95% finalized as of March of 2007 when the report was...

Re: Mine Resistent Vehicles

Just to clarify, I wasn't talking about the purchase screen, I was talking about the picklist code. I haven't experimented with it, but I would wonder if the formations are set up in the picklist to...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

As one of the many people who have experimented with what can be done in this regard with the existing code, I would imagine that it would require whole new classes to be formed and many many lines...

Re: Mine Resistent Vehicles

I would think that if you mod the picklist correctly they would still be used as tanks (bought by the AI in the tank purchase routines and therefore used as tanks). I'll admit, I don't know if...

Re: Expeditionary Fire Support System

GAO reviewed the EFSS as part of a larger audit March '07. I updated the EFSS page at work to reflect their findings (I'm currently an intern at globalsecurity.org among other things...and it'll...

Here are some more. The only vehicles that are left to make a complete set from what I see are an M35 truck with PBR turret and M151 w/ M40 RR.

V150...

Re: TO&E Quick Guide

You're more than welcome, but I'm sure these are ones you've already come across. These were taken mostly from the official USMC monographs on Vietnam.

Re: Next Set

I vote for utility vehicles in general. Truck and similar icons of all nations and eras would be nice to have, and are some of the least represented visually in the game.

Its obvious that in...
