Re: Faded Magic - No diplo, CBM 1.92, limited magic, Monsters & Dragons! - Recruiting

Welcome!

We still need a fifth person in any case but I plan on leaving recruitment open for a few more days. These experimental games don't have a large audience and some people may only check...

Re: Faded Magic - No diplo, CBM 1.92, limited magic, Monsters & Dragons! - Recruiting

Welcome!

I was running a test game and realized of all things I forget to remove gem gens. Actually not too big deal but I'll go ahead and remove them since I also realized I forgot to increase...

Re: Faded Magic - No diplo, CBM 1.92, limited magic, Monsters & Dragons! - Recruiting

Welcome! Pythium should be very strong. The battlefield is safer for communions and you even get the harbinger as thug summon.

I hope everyone feels the same and the various monster summons...

Faded Magic - no diplo, CBM 1.92, limited magic - KeithZ/Pythium wins!

This is the latest in a series of games in which the central theme is to limit magic to midgame levels. Each game has mixed in other aspects such as no indies, no research required, Assimilation mod,...

Re: Empowering a Wendigo

I agree that the lich, as an immortal unit, still has a place - it's mainly the kokythiad being more expensive than the wendigo that seems off as it seems like it should really be the other way...

Re: Game of Dorian, military maneuvers happening

I've sometimes had the server ignore postponement requests (if time permits I like to check to make sure they went through) but IIRC when that happens the ignored requests don't appear in the admin...

Re: Empowering a Wendigo

Wendigo are great. Not only are they useful in combat but you get a D4 caster for 24 water gems. Lower research level and cost than a lich and using Adam J's empowerment suggestion you can get a tart...

Re: Empowering a Wendigo

OK, I see what you mean. As you probably noticed when testing, the 30 gem empowerment can also be done later in their cycle - not just when they are at D1 level. Interesting idea - post-empowerment...

Re: Kailasa

Remember, it's not just about the troops. With Kailasa's lineup of sacred mages and commander summons I think there's a good case for throwing a useful bless their way if it can be done at reasonable...

Re: Empowering a Wendigo

No, that won't work. W and D specifically are boosted so the empowered path will remain at level 1.

Re: Kailasa

Yeah, the increased affliction bonus isn't a big enough selling point to me to make it worth putting many points into D. The main thing I like about it is the potential of the DE combo for hidden in...

Re: CBM recommended

From a SP perspective you won't be as sensitive to costs being out of line that are a big issue for MP and a significant part of what CBM does. What you'll probably find most interesting is the...

Re: Next...?

Since you mentioned you liked equipping thugs what about trying a thug nation? If you want stealth you could try a glamour nation. If you want brute force, then a giant nation. So, how about moving...

Re: Kailasa

I could see E6 but D6 doesn't seem appealing, especially since you'd be giving up any kind of E bless to get it. Also, I seem to recall people saying gandharvas are excellent and they have 3...

Re: Kailasa

With sacred mages, troops and summons I'd split the points and go with E4N4 rather than 6 in one path. This will give your sacred troops a net encumbrance of 0 and later you can cast relief when...

Re: War against tengu

Yeah, my answer was directed towards large battles, not dealing with raiding, so I made assumptions that Jomon would have arrow fend, a protection buff, etc. and didn't really talk about the...

Re: War against tengu

The Shuten-doji? I haven't played Shin, only fought them, but I don't recall seeing these used. Looking at their stats they don't seem like they'd survive for long.

Shura are nice thugs but...

Re: War against tengu

How much encumbrance are those sacreds picking up per turn? What about tiring them out (and blocking them) with chaff (skelly spam, swarm, etc.) while you hit them with evocation spells? Shin of...

Re: Awestruck. New Late Age game. (Started)

It's tedious, but it may be worth having all the players confirm they have deleted all the old files in their save game folder before downloading the re-hosted turn as I think the main reason...

Re: Conceptual Balance Mod v1.92

AwesomeCBM? ;)

I'm not sure I understand you. Do you mean in terms of how things are priced? Personally I've always viewed it as at least a 3:1 ratio in terms of the value of blood slaves to...

Re: Conceptual Balance Mod v1.92

Yeah, I'm guessing many of those wins were either vanilla or pre CBM 1.6 so clams are a significant factor. Much tougher now to chain cast armageddon and I haven't seen it cast in quite a while but I...

I definitely support switching to 48 hours. And thanks for the postponement as I would have staled without it.

Re: Conceptual Balance Mod v1.92

Calahan made the above comment in an exchange regarding claws of kokytos and I thought I'd use it as a jumping off point to talk about the current state of blood magic. I think I'm definitely more...

Re: Myth - EA, CBM 1.92, no diplo - Running

Ok, then we have agreement and the game is over. This game had a lot of back and forth and a lot of comebacks and I'd be very interested in hearing everyone's AAR and will write one up myself.

I...
