Re: Question:small arms for on map artillery

No, there is no convention against it. Not in game terms. In reality, artillerymen are specialists. They receive rifle training just like all other soldiers do, but then specialise in gunnery. ...

Re: More beautiful side of war

And here's a song about her.

Rosie the Riveter
By Redd Evans and John Jacob Loeb

All the day long,
Whether rain or shine,
She's a part of the assembly line.
She's making history, ...

Re: Is my game corrupted?

A test scenario I'd made up for my COIN school. I couldn't get the Air OPs to come in any way but right to left. I tried other scenarios that involved air units, and they worked fine. I concluded...

Re: Transferring maps . . .

Actually the Dos maps, from vers. 7.0 and 3.0 respectively can be transferred. I have done it. You have to be careful, but you can do it.

Re: Adding Body Armour to the Infantry Units

I wouldn't call it badly written, but the base code is ten years old, and written for MSDOS. It's a wonder that it works as well as it does. To add body armour, and the ability to fire from within...

Re: A couple of newbie questions

If you know how to make graphics, you can change the flag. You can't change the country name, that requires the source code. You can add custom units within limits. You can't add unit types not in...

Re: Assault/Battle Rifles

It was, see my earlier post on HEKs for the R-1, a design decision. Possibly it's due to the superior ergonomics of the G-3. The G-3 and the FN-FAL and its copies (L1A1, R-1) fire the same 7.62mm...

Re: 2 pounder HE shot ?

Actually the okes in the desert preferred MG rounds, at least the Seffricans did. Occasionally on the Marmon-Herrington my dad was a crewman on, they would issue 2pdr HE rounds. They would leave...

Re: Left out countries

Now that I'm out of Hospital, and when I'm done with the Turks, I'll add the Phillipine units to the US Army orbat. The PI army was organised precisely like the US Army, but with older equipment and...

No, it did not. The Yahoo Group has some provisional obats for Portugal, India/South Africa, Australia and the Netherlands. I'm working on a Turkish obat but will be offline for a number of days. ...

What OS are you running? I have a similar problem and I'm running Win98SE. On a fresh boot the game runs splendidly, with and without sound. If I quit out and do something else, the...

Re: Left out countries

Gud,

Glad to see you here. Where have you been? I've started work on a Ottoman/Turkish OOB. It will run from 1910-1949 and be useable in both DOS and Windows versions. (BTW, thanks okes, for...

Re: Question on heavy bomber bombloads

How far are they going to have to travel? You may want several bomb loadouts to reflect the location of the bombers' home airfields.

Re: Scouts

Outfit your scouts with carbines or SMGs and hand grenades. Rifles, especially sniper rifles should be avoided. Set the range at one or two, and keep to it.

One of the strong points of this...

Re: Infantry Casualties at 50m

If you think the infantry casualties are too high, ramp up the infantry toughness a little. Personally, I think gameplay (what I've done so far) is just fine.

Re: Mortars as Secondary Weapons

You use them like you use grenade launchers in SPMBT. Especially the 50mm and 2in tubes. I find these not really suitable for ID fire, they've too short a range. but they're wizard for breaking up...
