Re: Icons and lbms

OK, if there's one internet source I tend to trust on these subjects, Tanknet is the one. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Don't take offense from what I said, I just wanted to...

Re: Icons and lbms

Not 100% sure about your reasoning here. As a matter of course Uranium is heavier than Tungsten, so DU rounds are heavier than Tungsten rounds for the same length/caliber values. So for the same...

Re: WinSPMBT \"Das Reich\" (OOB MOD.)

Post the image to an image hoster (Imageshack or similar) or your own website and then use an "[img]" tag with the URL.

Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs

Right on, your icons are really good. The dimensions are good enough (give or take one pixel but no one notices that anyway). I was a bit put off at first sight by the way you handle your colors, but...

Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs

Pierre,

These icons of yours are great. I particularly like the ZSU, it's a definitive improvement. Regarding the Kamov helicopters, have you noticed the ones I have uploaded a while ago, that Don...

Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs

Isn't this one based on the T-64? If so that series is not on my drawing board yet, and I bet someone else will come up with it before me. Now Mark, if you have good drawings of the experimental...

New icon series: Russian AFVs

Hi everyone,

Here is a preview of a new icon series, including variants of the BRDM-2, BTR-60/70/80/90 and BMP-1/2/3 Soviet/Russian AFVs....

Re: Icons and lbms

Turreted icon shps 103 to 120 are free in the current game version. That's where I'm adding my new icons now as well.
I'm currently busy replacing all the 0049 and 0059 icons as well, upgrading lots...

Re: The Ukranian BMT-72 - Insanity.

OK, my bad, it doesn't. Then are Israeli engineer APCs used to ram building walls for quick assault bakc first? I have heard of this practice being used in some rare cases for assaulting buildings...

Re: The Ukranian BMT-72 - Insanity.

OK, I get the point.
I was more familiar with the Israeli idea that a trained crew is the hardest thing to replace in a tank, meaning that the engine was there to buffer shots for the crew, not the...

Re: Shoulder Launched SAM\'s

Talking about lethality ratings, short-range SP SAMs are quite another matter than NANPADS, since several of them use hybrid Frag-HEAT warheads (Roland, Rb.70) or even contact APHE (HE with delay...

Re: Shoulder Launched SAM\'s

I have tried to gather enough data to remap the parameters of the whole MANPADS class, and it is true that most of the Russian missiles stand out as having lighter warheads than their contenders...

Yes, except for the whole infantry part http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Dragon Fire II 120mm Mortar

Alliant Tech has come up with an elegant solution called M908 HE-Obstacle Reduction (http://www.atk.com/Customer_Solutions_MissionSystems/cs_ms_w_tgs_120ammo.asp), which is basically a M830A1...

Re: Western OPFOR in Durango Valley

IMHO you should think more in terms of force size. The OPFOR in this scenario gets one tank platoon, one mech platoon and complete infantry support units first thing, then a reduced tank co (9 tanks)...

Re: Dragon Fire II 120mm Mortar

I heard of the first Dragon Fire back in 1998 or so already, shame the program didn't move any faster... The LAV-based version is slated for 2008, dunno if that's IOC, opeval or development start....

Re: Hover Hover Hovercraft!

I agree with Mark, creating a new movement class would allow more flexibility in what is hovercraft and what isn't. I also agree that this kind of modification has chances of breaking the whole code...

Re: WinSPMBT \"Das Reich\" (OOB MOD.)

Now in the frame of the mod itself, Chieftains being sent to some remote corners of the Empire where reserve units still run on 1940s tanks could wreak havoc (provided with decent support) at least...

Re: Western OPFOR in Durango Valley

Loktarr, the French tank could have been a Leclerc early in the 90s, AFAIK the first ones came in service in very small quantities in 1992. Shortly afterwards you could have had enough of them in...

Re: Western OPFOR in Durango Valley

Germany still has a conscription army, though I guess the amount of conscripts depends on the unit (likely less in armor batallions). French forces have been 100% professional for about ten years, so...

Re: Combat dropping AFV\'s?

Hopefully someone's got better info, but I did hear a wile ago that the early BMDs couldn't be reliably dropped and driven off, though that was what the original concept called for.
Apparently for...

Re: Austrian OOB - J35 Draken OSD

The Saab-105Ö trainer (http://www.bmlv.gv.at/waffen/waf_saab105.shtml) appears to be still in service and able of CAS missions (with 30mm gun pods and 75mm rockets).

Also, some 12 F-5E Tigers...
