This is probably related to the bug in the fighters with the to hit/miss modifiers stacking.
Try removing these abilities from the hull and give them to the cockpit. See if the numbers change....

Don't think so.
Did the other fighters have any ECM or Combat sensors?
Also, there appears to be a bug with fighters, the attack and defense modifiers of all fighters in a group seem to be added...

How are you trying to install the patch? Just double click on the .exe file and it will install. I had a buddy who kept trying to extract the patch.

You could chek to see if it related only to fighters by putting 2 x ECM and 2 X combat sensors on the respective ships. They use the same ability. See if they also stack, they shouldn't.

I think difficulty is how "smart" the AI plays.
The bonus is how much extra resource and intel/research the AI get. I think it is multiples, ie low bonus AI get 2 x its produced resources to use....

IIRC as long as you don't make the engines store more supply than the supply component the AI shouln't use engines as the supply component. The AI seems to look for the ability then the amount.
