Artillery is mostly effective,even on armour even if it's just suppressive bombarding,they get supressed,and will be less accurate on next turn right?

Say you send an costly airstrike on armour...

I always buy the cheaper snipers and train them,when they get over 95% exp, then buy an upgrade.
Makes it less a heartbreak than losing a expensive sniper in early battles.

Most want to learn the game by trail and error, and take it in the chin every once and while.

Well the AI never uses z-fire,right?

With no enemy spotted,z-fire should be area suppression and not at all accurate.

Say a tank commander orders fire in a general direction of suspected enemy...

An exp. tank crew will have more chance to survive a critical hit,may lose some crew members if any survive.
It's best to get them as quickly as possible out harm's of way,to man another vehicle.

It appears he's playing a generated campaign.

Just like the JIA in WW2, N.Vietnam and Vietcong are well suited for jungle warfare,even generated battles,maybe better.;)

It's b/c the wrong files (another slot) were sent,not uncomman when playing multi pbem games.

When extracting or loading, check if file #'s are the same as...

Here's a hint,

If you are into large forces,just buy the CD,
Then you can organize your forces in formations and attack by using the 5 key, and stop being so cheap.

This could all be explained and rationalized easliy,on the size map being used.

Bigger maps need the longer range O/M arty, smaller maps less so perhaps?
