To be fair. Ashdod is only dangerous with a good bless. If you subtract the bless then ashdod will be reduced to a kitten.
It's not like he have good scales or anything.

Calling it a fort is to be very generous. The jervelian wall is probably the worst fortress i the game. As I recall, it got zero admin and only a hundred in defense.

I kind of agree with Dimaz that the two most recent versions have made way to big changes. The only gem gen that was problematic was the clam of pearls. The fever fetish caused disease and fire gems...
