Dominions 2 had "darkness" spells. Non-undead units got huge penalties to attack, defense, and precision in darkness. I assume that darkvision simply ameliorates those effects.

Actually, it would be nice if lifedrain was a variable weapon property. That way the cheap ones like Wraith Blades could only drain 5, but perhaps there would be artifact weapons with much higher...

Dominions 2 was hugely unbalanced, Dominions 3 will be also, just in different ways. You can't balance a game with over a thousand units and hundreds of spells and items. That's what makes Dominions...

I once saw a giant C'tis army blow itself apart after a mage in it cast PP and then got killed several times by my smiths' blade winds. It was hilarious.

As long as spellcasters will use damage spells instead of weak summons when they already have a horde of troops screening them I'll be happy.

Nope. It just knocks the unit unconscious once it goes over 100, and starts doing physical damage once it gets over 200.

That wasn't what he said. He was saying that Norfleet seems to have been resetting the value of his gem stockpiles to 200 whenever he needed to, since most of the gem types he didn't have much use...

Now why bother doing this? Elders can cast LD natively with just a skull staff, which is half the gems. Obviously there's some reason, or Norfleet wouldn't do it, but it's not immediately obvious to...
